i will be a year 7 form tutor for the first time in a while when we go back in Sept. I will be with them for the entire day on the first day back. We have timetables to do etc, but istruggle to fill in the time tbh.

I was just wondering whether anyone had any suggestions/ideas of 'getting to know you' games/activities i could do with them?

Thank you in advance.

Hi, RML, I used to get my Yr 7 form to do a small picture each (or provide magazines etc for collages if they don't want to draw), then get them to mount it on folded card. I then kept them in a folder and gave them out as birthday cards as the year went by. The form monitor was responsible for getting everyone to sign it in time for each child's birthday! Hve fun!!!

I am a head of year seven and I provide stuff for my form tutors.

How about a letter to you telling you about themselves?

Sit them in pairs back to back one with a map one without and they have to tell the other how to navigate from one place to another.

Working in groups they are given possivle solutins to a typical year seven problem - what are the consequences of each and which would they choose and why?

Mine did a quiz about the school on induction day.

give them a sheet to fill in where they have to find someone in their form who has blue eyes, one brother etc.

THe hammer or nail game.
