I'm helping DD find some good GCSE revision sources - does anyone have any tips or sites they can recommend? Particularly english, maths, science, RE and history.

Thanks!

dd uses bbc bitesize, however she mainly prints out past papers from the exam boards websites x

TeenPlusTwenties · 10/12/2019 18:25

DD2 is only y10. I'm liking Seneca for Science and it seems helpful for RE and Food Tech too, haven't tried it for anything else. We're only trying to do core knowledge at the moment and she isn't aiming for top grades.

Khan Academy has a lot of useful maths stuff (at all levels, so she'll need to look for the right topics). The website is good; the app design is rubbish though so I'd only advise using it through the website.

GCSEPod is good for RE, have a look at RE Online as well.
Avoid using past papers as the need in RE a to be able to select and deploy, knowledge is vital; as my Year 11's found out yesterday when I bollocked them for their lack of revision before mocks.

My dad was given revision books that are lengthy. Is your daughter studying her books as well as extra revision or using the additional resources as condensed revision?

Titsywoo · 14/12/2019 13:31

These are great thanks all. Yes she is using her books a bit but she's not good at revising as she just tends to rewrite everything which is a bit pointless. Listening to things is a good way for her to learn as she remembers more that way. Has anyone used tassomai?

CoreSciences is a new online GCSE Science platform that focuses on required practicals and also provides theory work and games. It's great for SEND pupils and homeschoolers too.

Has anyone tried ‘save my exams’. Looks good, but would be great to hear from someone using it or who have previously used it x

Bump

harvs1234 · 11/04/2022 14:07

Check out Mammoth Memory. It specialises in using mnemonics and imagery to help you memorise exam facts. Covers all the core GCSE subjects and topics, plus lots more.

harvs1234 · 11/04/2022 14:17

Link to the site is mammothmemory.net/

harvs What year is your DC? How did they find it?

or is this marketing bumping a 2.5 year old thread?

Tigerteafor3 · 11/04/2022 15:22

Tassomai is good, my school buys into it for our GCSE students. What subjects is she taking? There might be some specific sites for some subjects.

JaffavsCookie · 11/04/2022 15:27

Underwhelmed with Seneca, have found errors on it every one of the very few times I have used it ( teacher)
Otherwise agree with all of the suggestions listed above and add Cognito Resources for free access to past paper questions and mark schemes from most exam boards.
Also often neglected but read the specification for the qualifications too
