Parent run dodgeball club? Any experience?

This may be madness so I wanted to run it past some people. My sister is 11 and in y7 in a inner city school in London. I'm 26 and have a level 2 dodgeball coaching (v random I know) certificate and an up to date DBS. My sister does not really like many sports but loves dodgeball and her primary school had a successful and nice team. Dodgeball is nonexistent in her secondary school both on the curriculum and in club form. We've looked around and there is no teams out of school and when asked the school, no prospect of one in school due to staff.

I am thinking of asking the PE dept if i could come in and volunteer to run a dodgeball club for KS3 for say an hour each week. I haven't run this past my sister and obv would before going through with it but does anyone have any experience of 'parent run clubs'? Or of running a secondary school one? I'm obv not the parent but I doubt kids will be able to differentiate. I would limit it to KS3 to begin with and small numbers to ease control.

Not sure what you are looking for in 'experience with parent run clubs'.

At my dcs' Primary school quite a few of the clubs were run by volunteers who weren't staff - some from local clubs (eg the Rugby club who were keen to 'get kids into rugby') and some parents - one parent who ran the netball team, one parent (well, her dc had left, but had previously gone there) who ran the basketball team.
At my dds' secondary school they had the sister of a pupil come in and do all the choreography for the 'musical productions' they put on - so not 'sport' as such, but is a 'sister' rather than 'parent' relationship.

My dd is at university and runs an afterschool rugby club for girls at the local secondary school (she's 21 now but has been doing this since she was 19)

I'm just trying to see if it's weird or not tbh. I know it's more common in primary schools and seeing as I'm not the 'mum' it's not as common of a situation. You've pretty much answered my question though! It happens and I think it's best I'll speak to my sister and than approach the school.
Its just a shame because it's a game so many 'non sporty' kids like. My sister hates netball because the rules are complicated and so do her previous dodgeball lovers.

Thanks for you input though. Much appreciated.
