My DS will be setting exam and i feel he needs focussed revision before exam. Can I inform the school thar he is preoaring and take an anuthorised absence for 2 or so days?

Surely preparation can be fitted around the time after school and weekends. Last minute cramming isn't a good method of learning anyway.

My kids were well prepared, but didn't do any work at all for the few days before their 11+ exams. I think it's less stressful that way.

I think this is unwise. He can practice at weekends etc. It's putting a lot of pressure on your DC to say this entrance exam is so important we're 'breaking the rules'.

Good grief no.

NorthEndGal · 05/11/2019 09:58

I dont think they would appreciate him doing that at all.
Study on his own time, that's what it is for.

I would have thought no, not unless it is a proper recognised educational institution. Test papers at the kitchen table can be done after school.

Comefromaway · 05/11/2019 10:01

My dd had a day off for a taster day, then a day for her actual entrance test and audition but time off beforehand to prepare. No way.

Loopytiles · 05/11/2019 10:02

The school would record it as unauthorised absence.

newtothis15 · 05/11/2019 10:50

We will probably then take unathorised absence for 1 day before the test...

I wouldn’t do it (and didn’t), makes it too much of a big deal
Like a few people my dd had 1 day off for a taster day and then 1 day for the exam and interview
