If i accept 1st choice secondary, but hen change my mind and go on a waiting list for 2nd choice ( school B)...if school B offers the place and I will not be sure about school B at the time of the offer, can I decline school B without any consequences - I mean they 9 school B) might ban me form the waiting list for 1 or so years?

That is really hard to follow but if you are asking if you can be on a waiting list and then decline, you can do so. You’ll need to ask your specific LA whether they have a rule in place that you are then removed from the waiting list or not.

You should accept the place you have been offered as the council doesn't have to offer you another one.

Then ask to be put on to the waiting list for the one you really want and cross your fingers.

So you're saying

  1. you pick A as first preference and B as second preference
  2. You get offered A
  3. You decide you actually prefer B and go on the waiting list for B (you should still accept A)
  4. You get offered a place at B off the waiting list.
  5. You are not sure if you want B so you decline it, but you still want to stay on the waiting list

I don't think the question is so much whether the school will blacklist you (they won't) but why on earth you can't make your mind up!

There will be no consequences if you are offered a place off a waiting list but decline it.

prh47bridge · 24/10/2019 00:48

You can decline a place if offered off a waiting list. If you do you will be removed from the waiting list. You can, however, ask to go back on the list. They cannot ban you.

However, I'm with a previous poster who suggests that you need to make your mind up!

You sound very indecisive OP.

If you are offered school A then all lower choices are removed.
You would need to make a new application to school B.
This should be treated as a late application and this may affect any offer.
Refusing school B won't affect anything.

No it won't. Once offers have been made the waiting list is in operation. Your position on the waiting list is decided purely by the admission criteria. You cannot be put at the back of the list just because you are a late applicant.

cabbageking · 25/10/2019 23:16

You are not added to the waiting list for schools below your offered school. The process is complete. Same as you can not appeal for a school lower than the offered one.
if you want one of these schools after the offer then you need to reapply.

Remember to let the school know though.

So many selfish parents just don’t bother and then the first day of school starts, their kid doesn’t turn up and they just say “oh yeah decided on another school” meaning the kid at the top of the waiting list misses the first day(s) of school.
