I've visited this school, which is probably the best performing comp in the country. The results are great, the working ethos too. They start churning out GCSE in Y9 , including maths. I got the feeling that it's an exam factory, although the word " highly academic" is used to conceal the reality. I felt it's very regimented, and although the focus is Maths and science, still they have with a very narrow approach to the humanities during K2 and 4. Ultimately, I wonder if the school is unable to provide kids with well rounded experience and critical thinking and curiosity in the outside world. Perhaps I'm wrong, so I'd like to hear your opinion. I'm also slightly concerned that being in a highly ethnic area, my child would be a minority, and a very small one. Local families belong to tight ethnic communities and are traditional. I wonder how this may affect my child. Would she be able to enjoy the school and out of school activities and experiences as teens do at such critical age , that are so important to build life-long friendships?
