SW London girls independent/grammars thread 2020

Last year, there were two amazing threads which were super helpful about exactly this, so I wanted to start a thread for girls due to start September 2020. If anyone from last year wants to contribute please do!

We have narrowed our choices down to 5, sadly not in the right postcode for Tiffin, and decided not to do the Sutton grammars.

So, she will be doing PHS, WHS, LEH, SHS and Woldingham. Also registered for Emanuel but we may pull that one.

@SHHS good question , would love to know! has anyone heard from SHHS?

@shhs G and L interview everyone so it doesn’t affect what SHHs do.

I seem to remember that people heard from PHS and WHS earlier than the other schools last year. So at least that does help if they get a place at those (or one of them) and it takes the pressure off the main “offers day” in mid Feb because you know you have a school for them, whatever happens.

All the others - LU, SPGS, G&L and FHS come on the same day.

One year when DS did all this, LU sent it a day early with no warning!

I think KGS post earlier as well (or they used to)? They used to send the girls offers earlier than the boys too because they used to interview the girls first.

Last year the PHS letter arrived on Saturday 2nd Feb and the WHS letter on Wednesday 6th Feb.

FHSS - dates

Offers will be posted out to parents by all schools in the Consortium on Thursday 13th February 2020 (schools using email will email offers on Friday 14th February 2020). Some of these may be for a place on a waiting list.
Acceptances must be received by the school at which you wish to confirm a place by noon on Wednesday 4th March 2020

London State school results come out on March 2nd.

Unless DD has a major change of heart, if she is offered a full bursary she will want to go to FHSS. If not she will still do well at GCH.
We are lucky to have GCH as our fall back.

At the risk of creating expectations about Surbiton...

I am led to believe they may be posting letters today. We got ours by email as the school knows we’re overseas.

Crikey - I wasn't expecting that! I've just received the email also. And we're away this weekend, so will be anxiously wishing away the weekend until we can come home

Also just received the Surbiton email!! Do we think they will arrive tomorrow though, if it says ‘posted this evening’? Good luck all!!!!

No dd didn't do Surbiton as it's too far ... but I rather wish we had to have the chance to get a nice early offer! I don't think any of dd's schools will offer until 14th Feb. It'll be a looooong wait. Good luck to your dd tomorrow, hope the postman brings good news!

Congratulations to your dd @RevolutionofOurTime! I agree, so nice to have one in the bag so early, wish we had done Surniton now! But too far for us...good luck to the rest waiting tomorrow! And I agree, a weekend away from it all sounds fabulous!!

The email from Surbiton took me by surprise too. I haven't told anyone, not even DH, that it might come today. The rest of the family apart from me has or is getting a cold so we are a house of miserable sniffles. If it's good news that can cheer us all up, and if it's not well I'll just keep it low key.

Our post is here and it’s a YES for Surbiton for my DD! Absolutely over the moon for her and can’t wait to tell her when she’s home later.

We will almost certainly release our Woldingham place over the weekend, as Surbiton would be our preferred choice. Then we wait and see if Putney, LEH and Emanuel give offers....
