Do children still get tutors outside school or in this type of school provides everything that is necessary to get good GCSE results and there i no need for tutors?

Hi new - I have DC there. No they definitely won’t need tutors if they are offered a place there. If you are middle say, 80% of the cohort there (ie the bulk of the pupils), they will come out with all 9s and 8s at GCSE, despite getting quite average report grades all the way through.

If a student is struggling in a particular area there is academic mentoring. Fantastic supppirt for ant SEN. They will make a targeted plan and get them back on track if there are any issues. Once they get to options in Year 9, they can focus on their stronger subjects anyway. The school doesn’t feel massively pressured at all. Not until Year 11 anyway!

There will be children at every school with tutors, it's the way of things with education neing so competitive.

LU had a much higher set of GCSEs this year than last.

There are pupils having tuition at any school.

My DS has just done his GCSEs there - he didn’t have a tutor and I don’t know anyone who did. Extra help at school was available if they needed it. It’s a good school for very bright curious children - not a pressure cooker but they need to be able to keep up with fast-paced learning.
