Uniform Blazer pocket doesnt fit logo badge

Where should I sew it.

DH suggested opposite side of the pocket (where there is no pocket).
I'm thinking one of the lower pockets where the badge does fit.

It just needs the badge on the blazer, the notes do not specify where, but it really doesnt fit the top blazer pocket where it would normally go.

MN is no need and so nasty sometimes. DD's school have their own embroidered blazers, or you can buy your own and sew on a badge. It's no issue ( though our badges fit lol), DD has the schools version and an M&S one, this year she fancied a John Lewis one, as she liked the striped lining in the arms 🤦‍♀️. No one has mentioned it, why would they? She's not the only one.
Really don't worry about it, but see the badge on the right pocket, even if it overhangs, it will look odd if you put it in a different place.

  • so crazy, no idea where no need came from

Anyone else popping by to see if the kid’s asked for a “normal blazer” yet?!

There's no problem sewing a badge onto a blazer, lots of schools do it. But agree it should be in exactly the right place, otherwise the uniform is not 'uniform' with other students, in photos with those in standard blazers it'll look odd.

Hmmm, I think as adults some of us remember well and others don't, how fitting in is really important for children of this age.

I agree with some of what Op says - she isn't flouting the rules because an alternative blazer and sewing on badge is allowed, BUT I think it was then her responsibility to buy a blazer which fits the badge - probably bought the 2 items wrong way round.

Moving the pocket would leave a mark where the old one was and look odd. Badge overhanging pocket would look odd. Most children won't notice or care. Some children wouldn't mind wearing a different version, but most would prefer the standard one. There is no argument in terms of quality or itchiness - they all wear the same and wear a shirt and jumper - blazers are not near the skin. Why wasn't tit possible to return the original M and S blazer for refund and buy the correct one?

It's fine to think some school rules are daft and to contact the school about them (an email is usually fine) and much better to do this than taking matters into your own hands and expressing your views through sending your child in differently to everyone else. So why not just email about the non-uniform days.

I agree that children aren't all totally obsessed about being identical and all children aren't bullies towards anyone different. However, recognising that for this age group, fitting in is a common age-old theme for them. As adults we can po-poo it and say it's ridiculous but we're not 12 and parents do need some empathy for the mindset of children.

@ooopsupsideyourhead. Sorry to disappoint, she's getting on with school. Not caring about her blazer at all.

@WombatChocolate I'll give you I should have found the right blazer. Had the logo first, just depth perception is just not there.

For the record, I did email about the non uniform days before the non uniform day. I didnt randomly send my daughter in her uniform without an explanation. Maybe I hadn't explained that previously.

All’s well that ends well then. They’re obviously a very happily individual thinker!
