Boys school shoes

Totally new to this and dreading the whole secondary school thing. But I need help regarding boys secondary school shoes 🤦🏻‍♀️
My little man will be starting in September and I'm wondering what school shoes are "in" at the moment. 🙄 don't want to send him in in anything that's likely to get him "picked" on 🤦🏻‍♀️ another mum said kickers were "in" but I remember wearing them at school over 20 years ago 😬.

we got my ds these and nearly every boy in his year had something similar. x

Before you buy anything check the school's dress code carefully and stick to it. In our case it doesn't matter what's in, school specifies formal dress shoes in black.

clary · 13/07/2019 18:24

Many school so now require black shoes with no logos, so trainers and kickers are out.

My ds2 has just finished yr 11 and wore these Clarks shoes for his last two years, pretty regular. What size does he wear? I ask because some more trainery ones ds wanted didn't go big enough!

clary · 13/07/2019 18:25

I mean ds wears a 10 and some he liked only went up to a 7. Less likely to be an issue in yr 7 tho!

Thank you for your reply's 😊
He's a size 6,
the school policy says:
black polishable shoe
shoe and not a leather trainer
No coloured laces
No trainers
No canvas shoes
No heels above 3cm 😬
I think I'll just have a look about and see what he likes and what fits the policy. The rate he goes through shoes I'll be buying a new pair come December anyway 🤦🏻‍♀️
Thanks again for your help, much appreciated!

Sports Direct sells leather shoes in a few styles that fit the bill. They are cheaper & last longer than Clarks if he's a lunchtime football player.

DS2 has also just finished year 11 at a school with a similarly strict footwear policy and has had these Clark's ones for the last two years or so www.clarks.co.uk/c/Asher-Soar-Youth/p/26143665
I think his first pair were £45 but helpfully, his feet sort of ground to a halt, size-wise during year 10, so I was able to get a second pair at a factory outlet for considerably less.

Always get my sons (and daughters) shoes from Clarks. They just choose the ones they like the look of.

Dr Martens parade shoes here - last all year

Both of mine have worn Clarks all the way through and about 3 different styles.

Ds1 is size 10 and a G width and just finished year 11, Ds2 is a size 6 and an H+ fitting Shock so they have to put him in a size 7. He is in year 8.

Our school is as strict as yours in terms of no trainer/canvas must be completely black etc.

I think secondary school in general is a resilience training camp, someone will find something about you is objectionable, whether it is shoes, hair, name, height, face, school bag, your choice of friends, your academic ability or lack of. All your child needs to know is that bullies are insecure and to be ready with some one line come backs. My son's favourite is how many times were you dropped on your head as a baby?
