Where should I buy school shoes for DD?

DD is starting y7 in September. For the last couple of years we have ended up battling over school shoes and so I'm preparing for the same again this year.

The uniform policy for her new school is quite strict. It has to be a shoe, no boots or trainers. All black including stitching. Nothing fancy or decorative. No logo or identifiable brand.

Where can I get good shoes that will last, fit the uniform policy and keep DD happy? I was thinking kickers but they have the little labels. She had asked for slip on ballet shoes but I said no as she will be doing a 1.5 mile walk each way every day (no school bus) and she will forever have wet feet.

Any advice is appreciated.

Has she had her taster day at her new school yet? Ask her to look at what the girls are wearing and you may find that she changes her mind about insisting on ballet shoes. They are definitely more of a primary than a secondary thing.

Clarks Alexa Darcys are my daughters favourites. They are very soft inside, are great for lots of walking and running around, look good and last forever it seems. www.amazon.co.uk/Clarks-Womens-Alexa-Darcy-Derbys/dp/B07FR8W8WT?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Another popular shoe at their school are Kickers. You can just cut the label off. www.amazon.co.uk/Kickers-Unisex-Youth-Shoes-Black/dp/B008U5EKM6/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1&s=shoes&keywords=kickers&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1563312909&sr=1-2-spons

I don't see any girls wearing ballerina shoes at their school and very few wear sturdy Mary Jane styles.
