How are your DC's ks3 science notes organised?

DS in y7 has brought home a disintegrated cardboard folder of loose unsorted science notes to revise for his end of term exam. It's a combo of classwork and homework. I'm pretty appalled to be honest. Apparently exercise books aren't used for science because they have so many worksheets.

Does your DC's school have a better system?

DDs are in an exercise book with worksheets glued in where necessary. Glue sticks are a mandatory part of their school kit, along with pens and calculators - we get through what feels like hundreds.

Exercise books with work sheets stuck in as needed.

Then we used a CGP KS3 science guide to revise from using exercise books as a guide as to topics.

DD - Exercise books with sheets neatly stuck in
DS - as per OP's DS plus the addition of an exercise book with some scribbles (I won't call them notes) in

Neither DC really use their class notes to revise though - I guess the need for them is reduced as their is so much online material.

DD has a file per subject, all class work sheets, hand outs and homework are put in poly pockets and filed. After end of topic tests, she removes them to a 'master file alongside her revision cards.
This strategy means she has less to carry around during the year and has 'bite sized chunks' in her master file for end of year exams.
