moving from Scotland to England - which year

Hi. My daughter is 15 and has just taken her Nationals. We're moving down to England this summer. We were assuming she would start her A-levels. However, we have been told she will have to go into year 11 and do her GCSEs as she is not yet 16 and wont be until October! Is this right?! Thanks

hi. down here 15 year olds are in year 10/11, so they are taking gcses. I think i would ask if she could go into year 10 personally, so she can start the gcse curriculum, have the coursework etc. or, you could take a look at colleges instead, as some run from 14+

National 5s are equivalent basically to GCSEs, so to have her go into year 11 would be mad.

I'd explain she has taken GCSE equivalents and she's only a few months out of going into year 12 anyway, I'd think they'd let her go straight into A levels if they're sensible.

My dd went from National 5s to A levels no problem, she wasn't behind the pupils who sat GCSE and she took biology chemistry and maths.
