Kingsdale waiting list

My Ds is currently in the early 50's on the waiting list (band 1). Started off in the 90's. Does anyone have any experience of how much the waiting lists move from this point in the year?

Surely as a school that allocates by lottery they should do a new draw every time a place comes up?

There was a thread on this quite recently: https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/3525070-Kingsdale-waiting-list

Sorry not to be able to answer your question though OP!

We are at a ridiculous 290 something on kingsdale’s Banding list. We’ve given up on it, but it was our second choice. Interested to know how you know what band you are in, not something that has been disclosed to us. Did you ask?

I know someone who has been 3rd on the waiting list for the last couple of years. I wouldn’t hold your breath

My son starting position on the waiting list a few years ago was 100, in band 1. He was about 50 by the summer holidays & was offered a place on the first day of school. I know a lot of people that received a phone call throughout the first 2 weeks offering a place but were given only a few hours to make the decision before the place was offered to the next person on the list, so my advice is to be prepared!

Kingsdale write to all people on the waiting list during the school holidays asking if they want to remain & in our experience most people decide to stick with the school they are offered.

Good luck

From the other thread;
“The Admissions Code is very clear on the subject. Paragraph 1.34 states, "a fresh round of random allocation must be used each time a child is to be offered a place from a waiting list". The "must" means this is compulsory. So there must be a new draw every time a place becomes available.

Looking at Kingsdale's admission policy, it seems they re-rank the list whenever there is a new applicant and then continue to use those rankings until there is another new applicant. This is a clear breach of the Admissions Code. If someone refers this to the Schools Adjudicator I would expect the school to be told to obey the Code.”

So how can anyone have a numbered place on a waiting list?

And what happens when a late applicant makes a new application? Surely they should go into the pool along with everyone else and take their turn at the next draw for a place?
