We are on the merry-go-round of visits to potential senior schools, for 13+ entry. We liked Ardingly much more than we had expected (who knows why we even had preconceptions). Some years ago I remember general mutterings that it wasn't terribly academic. I can see now that its GCSE results are very good, but they tail off at A'level (they do pretty well at IB). Four got places at Oxford or Cambridge in 2018, which isn't many even if one doesn't compare the school to Brighton College.
I would be very interested to hear from current parents what they think of the teaching at Ardingly- is it innovative or very trad? Are the teachers motivated and inspiring, or clever but dull? - and what the school's trajectory seems to be at the moment.
Many thanks in advance!
