Sixth form all girls

Hi I’m looking for anyone with experience and recommendations for all girl sixth form in SW London. I don’t live in London but have a flat in Fulham very near Lady Margaret’s. Also thinking Wimbledon High and Queens Gate. Arty daughter and also quite academically competitive but not socially outgoing. This would be a new thing as my kids have stayed in same school for years so never had to apply for a place after reception.

brentford 6th form is all girls and is an 18 minute drive from fulham, a 30 minute cycle or a 40 minute train ride. all the best x

Godolphin and Latymer and St James Girls.

Does St Paul's girls have a 6th form intake? Another possibility could be Francis Holland Sloane Square? I've no experience of either - but maybe others who do will arrive! Oh, also Putney High would be close, wouldn't it (again no experience of it!)

Invisibleiink · 10/05/2019 07:51

Or Greycoat Hospital (in Westminster) - although I have a feeling they may be co-ed in 6th form so if you are looking for single sex that doesn't fit the bill. Others may confirm!

It wouid be worth looking also at Putney, even if just for comparison, but as it's between Fulham and WHS it seems a ogical addition - or is there something about the school you already know you do not like.

JAGS would also be a possibility as DD could get the coach.

AnotherNewt · 10/05/2019 08:02

And yes, Greycoats is co-ed sixth form

BubblesBuddy · 10/05/2019 10:02

St Paul’s is ultra competitive for 6th form as you would expect. The best Arty school is Heathfield in Ascot. Would she board? It’s renown for its art. With good reason.

Pipandmum · 10/05/2019 12:06

Thanks for the suggestions. Putney high I considered but heard art is stronger at Wimbledon and I don’t know the prospectus was not as enticing - not that one should judge a school by that! Also for practicality, Wimbledon is further away but a quick tube ride, Putney would be a bus and having spent a lot of time crawling along Putney high st...
She’s happy to take transport but I wouldn’t want the journey be too long and she certainly wouldn’t board (nor could I afford the fees!). But thanks for the help.

again depending on whether co ed is in the frame at all, I hear tell that Latymer Upper has art scholarships for 6th form if that is a strong interest of your dd's? (Yet again, no experience of the school myself!)

Godolphin and Latymer is great - a kind, nurturing schoo, girls are friendly and buzzing, the sixth form is great and a new head of sixth form is amazing. Also offered IB which is highlights valued by uni

yummymuumy · 24/05/2019 16:37

G&L offer art scholarships too

Thank you for all the suggestions. She has recently thrown a spanner in the works by saying she would consider mixed!
Interestingly we have now rejected WHS as an option - the open day was poorly run though admittedly they also suffer from building works where alot of the sixth form will be housed (which is currently a hole in the ground). We went the following week to Putney High and it was fabulous! Art teacher much more inspiring, they matched us with a girl doing two of the three subjects my daughter was interested in (such a basic idea but the ONLY school to do this). Top of our list now which only goes to show nothing bears actually visiting the school. We've been to LM now too - also poorly run, overcrowded so no chance of speaking to any subject teachers and the current y11s were there too - surely they didn't need to be there at the same time. No bells and whistles which we are used to coming from private, though I know it is a good school it didn't feel very welcoming.
Due to her change of heart lso now looking at Ashbourne and Ibstock and CIC.
