Any maths teachers out there?

My dd is starting at a high achieving secondary school in September. She has always struggled with maths, and through sheer hard work and determination, she got a 4a in her year 6 SATS. (proud mummy emoticon). The problem is, she finds it very hard to retain maths in her head (not a problem with other subjects, so it's not a memory issue) `We have talked about it, and we have decided it would be a good idea to keep things ticking over during the summer, so that she hits the ground running, so to speak, in September. Can anyone recommend me a book that we could use in odd moments during the holidays? Or any other advice? Thank you!

schofield and sims mental arithmetic books can do 12 very short questions a session our library sells them DD will be doing them most days (well realistically once or twice a week)

It depends what you are after, but these are quite good if you want to do 10 mins daily.

They are quite demanding (designed for 11+ prep), and you have to work fast to finish with 10 minutes. But they are good if you want a challenge.

It's not exactly fun though

DS1's Maths has always been good as far as his primary was concerned, but he was quite slow when it came to 11+ standards. Using these books he's speeded up tremendously.

We used the Bond books for 11&divid; preparation too - I think I'd like to find something different. I wonder if anybody knows what they do in Year 7 - I know I can find out from the curriculum website, but it would be so much easier if someone told me!

I'm not a maths teacher but I can recommend these books www.cgpbooks.co.uk/ You can get them in Smiths as well as online. They have a very lighthearted style.
