DS being teased at school

have put in teenager section, will put here too - as need help,!!

DS is being teased constantly at school, by groups of kids , who mutter to him about a girl they say he likes... ( he doesn't!)

he has just told us about it and says that it is non stop, in different classes, large numbers of kids.. that he has had enough but doesn't want to speak to teachers etc...

Any advice?? could he just say " aren't you bored of this yet?" or is it better to keep ignoring and eventually they will shut up??

no previous experience of this so please help!!! thanks

I would say ignoring is great at the first level as bullies get bored. But if it’s high level and constant you need to speak to the school as this could end very badly. Sometimes we need to be a parent first and despite him saying he doesn’t want to speak to teachers, you may have to be his voice here.

I know standard advice is always to ignore it, but I sometimes think this just allows it to go on for longer because kids want to keep prodding to get a reaction.
What kind of boy is your son generally? Is he confident enough to turn around & say to the group something like “Actually I really fancy you X...” or give it back in any way? “No I really don’t, but A you’re clearly really into B aren’t you!” Maybe he can deflect it back onto the group?

thanks for your thoughts.. like some of your deflecting comments - just not sure how serious it is - he can be quite dramatic in his language - have taken him out today for walk , he's not talking about it but is smiling again and chatting generally - thinking to
suggest trying deflecting over this coming week and if no improvement after halfterm will contact school???
