Or other schools in West Kent. Are private schools or boarding school any better at protecting teens from drug avaiability? Worried about my 14yo DC

Drugs are everywhere, any school that tells you they aren't is probably ignoring the issue. Anecdotally private schools are worse because there is more money available. I have no idea if this is the case. You just have to educate your DS fatherland shielding him from it.

fatherland = rather than!

There are drugs everywhere - private, state, youth clubs etc. It‘s big business.

Most boarding schools will have a drug policy which will involve parents accepting that their child submit to a drug test if asked to by the school. Most schools will have a policy of automatic expulsion or suspension for drug use.

If you want to protect your DC against drug use, encourage them to stand up for themselves, resist peer pressure (easier said than done) or hang out with kids who do sport.

My lad is at a state comp and he has never come across drugs inside or outside the school gate.

2 friends kids who go to Indi Grammars have been offered drugs (in Y9 up) and both schools have recently expelled a number of kids for taking and selling drugs.

It's inevitable that the vast majority of children who go to independent boarding schools will have money in their bank accounts and often quite significant amounts of money (however much schools try and discourage it) and thus money to buy drugs/alcohol/fags and other things (200 bags of Haribos) and they are not supervised 24/7. Also teenagers are programmed to take risks and will always be tempted too do daft things. But most boarding schools come down hard on children who take drugs, and most parents agree to have their children randomly tested if drugs are suspected and some schools randomly screen children on a regular basis. It's also standard stuff to provide quite extensive education on drugs alcohol etc but some of course wont listen whatever you do. Finally as said above most hoarding school expelled this who take drugs but some will still take a chance.
