Physics, Biology textbooks

Can anyone recommend a clear, step-by-step, easy to understand Physics textbook for Secondary School; Year 9 through GCSE to be precise? My daughter in Y9 is using Edexcel and it is riddled with English mistakes, but even worse, explains things in a way that are too brief, and frankly, often confusing. Or are there any online resources that would be useful? Thanks in advance!

BBC Bitesize is pretty good, have you tried that?

The Edexcel GCSE book is definitely a revision guide not a text book, it expects to be reminding about the content, not teaching it from first principles.

The best I have found pitched at this level are :

physics: Nelkon

biology: Mckean

but I should say they are
(a) slightly older textbooks, not necessarily fully aligned with current exam board curricula
(b) unusually comprehensive / rigorous and so better for an able student requiring extension than one who is struggling.

TimesTwo, we do dip into Bitesize now and then and they ARE good, but it's bitty, and I would like her to study from start to finish and understand the "whole" conceptually. Mints, I am going to check out these resources -- she is able. Thank you!

You may find the Letts guides worth a look, as they seemed to be more wordy than the Edexcel ones.

I had the Nelkon book! I took A level Physics in 1989!!

^ I remember it being a good book though.

I went on to do a Physics degree.
