Tassomai - does it work?

Hi

I am considering getting this for ds for Chemistry, Physics and Biology. His Targets are 8’s - he’s on target in Biology and Physics but Chemistry is a bit of a concern.

Has anyone used it? How did you find it? Does it really work?

I think it works but it absolutely cannot be the only revision one does for science.

You won't be able to answer long questions if you just use tassomai.

We signed up at the beginning of the year for maths and the three sciences.
My daughter didn't find the maths useful, so we dropped it but she is still doing the three sciences. Her physics teacher was off for long-term illness, so she's had a succession of supply teachers up to now and Tassomai has really kept her going.
It is just constant repetition of must-know facts so as mentioned, it shouldn't be their one avenue of revision or learning as not much is actually explained at length.
My daughter goes to the 'science revision guy' and other You Tube sites for videos to explain the concepts, because I certainly can't help!
Compared to a tutor, I think it's not bad value. You can stop and restart and they send you emails to say how much your child has been doing.
She finds the idea of being able to do regular little chunks less overwhelming, as well as the interactive nature of it. There isn't much that is similar.
You could always trial it.

My ds is aiming for 8s (or 9s!) in his science GCSEs and has been using Tassomai for a few weeks for his mocks. He was initially pretty sceptical but now wants to keep doing it. He tends to do 30-40 minutes of revision with his books and then a Tassomai session on that topic to finish off.

Dd has it - she doesn't use it as much as she should but doesn't want me to cancel it - science tutors are as rare as hen's teeth around here. Memorise has apparently some good stuff on it - maybe try there first if money is tight as it's free. I actually think for a talented, motivated student there's is lots of free online support to be found with minimal effort - including brilliant videos on You tube - it's a worry that these talented kids aren't developing self study skills.

DD's school pay for it and she has used used it a lot. It doesn't help with the long questions but she uses it to help answer short ones.

There is also Seneca which is free and looks quite similar to Tassomai.

It helped dd enormously. She had poor science teaching in years 9 & 10 and when her previous teacher retired there was a lot of catching up to do in year 11. She started Tassomai in the January of Year 11. Due to travel time to school she had a lot of trapped time and it was an easy thing to do on the long commute.

She was predicted 6’s and ended up getting 7 8 8. She also did practice questions to refine her exam technique.
