Thames christian school or The Moat

DD has severe dyslexia and dyscalculia. I really think she'll sink in a mainstream school and won't pass the exams for selective schools. Shes due to start year 7 next year but so unhappy we'd consider moving her in year 6. We're in London. Does anyone know anything about Thames Christian school or The Moat? They're both commutable although one more so than the other.

She already has an EHCP so we're hoping to argue a case that we need to increase her support.

Both are on my radar & nearby. On balance and as a total generalisation I would say The Moat has historically been seen as more of a special school (though I believe they are shifting the focus) whereas TCS is a supportive mainstream school. The Moat's fees are twice as high as TCS reflecting the amount of specialist provision on site.
I think you need really strong advice on what level of support she needs ideally from a good EP in with knowledge of both school. Also might be worth booking in an assessment at The Helen Arkell Centre in Farnham (have heard VERY good things about it) and perhaps they can advise
Not sure where you are in London but have you also looked at (specialist) Fairley House school (Pimlico) or other supportive mainstream options like The Laurels (about to move to Chelsea Embankment) and More House Knightsbridge.
Good luck.

Agree with PP's take on these schools.

If your daughter needs SALT and/or OT support it's all onsite at The Moat and included in the fees. Classes of max 10 with teacher and TA. Very nurturing and now starts at Yr 5.

It's a while since I looked round but I did like TCC. Unfortunately I felt it was too mainstream for DS, who has a range of SPLDs, and didn't have the therapeutic support he needed there. Had he 'just' been dyslexic or 'just' dyspraxic, it would have been a contender. Bottom line is that it's a mainstream school although one that's supportive of SPLDs.

Have you looked at Canbury on Kingston Hill? Again a while since I looked round but it felt midway between The Moat and TCC. Very small and cosy.
