Online activity, what can schools do?

Was looking for some advice please. My daughter and her friends have been getting random messages from so called online fake accounts. It has come to light that these accounts were set up by a pupil in my daughters year. Messages are very random such as: the colour of the bra my daughter was wearing in the PE changing room as well as other totally random stuff. Other students at the school had asked the girl in question to stop sending these messages. The girl then decided to make a complaint about being bullied to the school by boys from the same year. When my daughter was spoken to about the bullying allegation she showed the school the messages she had been sent. (My daughter had kept screen shots). In short the school has spoken to all involved and sent a letter home saying the matter has now been resolved. However my daughter and her friends have again started getting random messages from another newly created account (about yeast infections this time Confused). The girls are blocking theses accounts but as soon as they do a new account appears. Do I email the school and tell them that the matter is still ongoing or do I just let it lie? Other than finding these messages unpleasant and annoying my daughter isn’t distressed by it. I do however wonder about the mental state of the girl who sends these messages but that’s an aside. WWYD? Thank you

Take your daughter off social media until this calms down. Anonymous messages are incredibly upsetting.

But the OP's DD isnt actually finding them incredibly upsetting and why should she and her friends forego the positive social aspects of of the platform? It's the perpetrator who should have her access restricted. And yes, I would let the school know. It may not be strictly their responsibility, but they are the link between you and the girl's parents. Unless one of you knows them well enough to speak directly to them about her behaviour?

As for her mental state, plain old attention seeking / doing it to be annoying / just because she can probably just as likely?

Email the school with details of all the accounts the messages keep coming from and who is receiving them.

The only thing your daughter can do is block them each time and report it to school.

School will have procedures and policies on how to deal with this.

I would have thought it was quite upsetting to receive anonymous messages about my bra. Oh well.

Is it clear that this girl sent the messages?

Keep reporting it - although if it's repeatedly you might be better reporting it to the police via 101.

Thanks for the advice all. Just an update. I have reported the issue to the school and provided screenshots. Basically the school are saying that they have limited powers and sent me an attachment of the school’s “smart policy” which I can’t open 🙄
Looking at those messages the girl is or a proper pest or she has serious issues.

It would be interesting to know in what way they think their powers are limited. The relevant legislation gives them wide powers to regulate the behaviour of pupils and punish those who do not comply. This girl's actions sound like she is bullying fellow pupils. The school should be dealing with that.

What platform is the girl using to send these messages? Is it possible to block her and also report her to whatever platform she is using. If she continues with this take it up with the school again or perhaps the girls parents?
