Hi my girl's currently year 10 in an international school. we've been living here since 2014. We will be moving back to Uk in this or next year. would it be okay for girls? anyone here with experience? There's no choice for us but changing school cause we can't stay in this country any more (no more visa and our jobs are moving back to Uk)

No-one was suggesting boarding where you are now - we mean get her boarding in the UK now before you come back. Or accept that you will have to start her in year 10 next year which inevitably means a private school. Again though act fast.

Check out box hill school in Surrey. I think they have an international stream with 1:1 support and shortened GCSE period. They have day or boarding

One possibility - she could enter an International school in the UK at year 11 (or grade 10 US curriculum) and follow either IB or American Advanced Placement (AP) for the last years of secondary. The IB diploma is done in the last 2 years but GCSEs are not needed to enter that. Same for AP courses (which it sounds like you're familiar with). As for admission to UK universities, either AP or IB work perfectly fine.

I know students admitted to Russell Group unis with one or the other (and some who had at least 3 very good AP scores from US Grade 11 (Yr 12) received unconditional offers based on those scores). Definitely worth exploring especially if you can consider Surrey (ACS Cobham, ACS Egham, TASIS).

Other option is to look at UK boarding schools that offer international entrance at Year 11. (I know Sidcot School offer it as do a few others). They are designed for overseas students mainly with English as a second language to give them a year to catch up before embarking on A levels or IB, but they also take 6 GCSEs. With your daughter having started her iGCSE's at an international school, they may be more able to help her take at least 6, but probably not the full list that she is currently studying. We moved our child (just started Year 10) back to UK to board precisely because of the issue you are now facing.

Move right now or after she has finished y11, not between; she will lose out in a significant way with any other way.

You could always look at Interhigh, they do igcses and have pupils all over the world

That way you could transition from one country to the other keeping her education stable and have time to arrange A levels once you’re back

Have a look at King Edward's Witley.
