Hello mums, currently pondering relocation for private girls school. My worry is her new classmates will be geographically scattered and her clubs are likely to be within the school. Wondering how she would she make local friends in a new neighbourhood.. Is this something I need to be considering more seriously when relocating? Thank you all :)

All the Private day schools have a widespread school population. There are not huge numbers of private schools, so it’s inevitable. I think if you have not come from a local primary, you won’t have local friends. It’s inevitable.

My DDs went to a boarding school, having been to Bucks primary schools, and they left primary school friends behind. This is probably the position with many girls at Pipers, although they do have their own junior school. Most girls will be friends with Pipers girls, not former friends who have gone elsewhere for secondary. They all move on. The only time when primary friends stay friends in this scenario, is when the parents are firm friends.

I think you just have to make the best of your decision and maybe join local activities and clubs if you need local friends for your DDs. Most of us survive without local friends when we use private schools in Bucks. We just went to village events.
