Secondary schools Bury St Edmunds

I am currently in the process of moving to Bury St Edmunds. Unfortunately our sale has progressed very quickly and hasn't given me the time to look at secondary schools in depth and it now looks as though we will be moving end of August. Can anyone who has a child attending a secondary school in Bury St Edmunds or neighbouring villages please give me some advice. I also have another child who will be attending primary school however I feel it important to prioritise my eldests school before my youngest. I would be so grateful for any information. I love all of Bury St Edmunds. I also like Woodbridge and Framlingham. However Thomas Mills is very oversubscribed for my childs year so I have given up on that option (Thomas Mills).

The three main secondary schools in bury are king edward vi, county upper and st Benedicts. Kegs is CofE, st Benedicts is Catholic and county upper is non denominational.
All three are very good schools.
St Benedicts and county upper share a sixth form.
Just outside of bury is Thurston secondary. I don't know much about Thurston though.
Woodbridge and framlingham are an awful long way from bury for a school commute

Thank you FrancesFryer. I had heard that King Edward VI was a good school too. I did try out the journey Woodbridge/Framlingham to Bury and I realised very quickly its not practical. Do you mind me asking, have you or do you know anyone who's had first hand experience at any of these schools. Ive looked for reviews but there aren't many and the ones that are weren't written recently. Thanks

All of my children went to kegs sixth form. There is brilliant support for the students there, both pastoral and academic. All three got more than an academic education. They have an exchange school in China and have exchange trips each year.
My eldest went on a trip to Iraq, this was before the war in Syria though and hasn't happened since.
Given my time again i would have sent them to the main school. We live about 20 miles away but on a main bus route.
They are on Facebook if you wanted a more detailed look.
I don't know much about county upper or st Benedicts but have heard nothing bad about either
