AlwaysHiding it's good to hear from you, but I'm speechless about the behaviour of your DD's (ex, I hope) friends. Teenagers can be selfish, but that's on another level! As you say, new friends should be one of the goals for September.
Luckily, from memory, the experience of preparing for, sitting and receiving their GCSE results does tend to cause a period of fast change in teenagers, but everyone grows up at different rates, so friendships break apart and new, better ones form.
AlwaysHiding your DD has had so much to contend with, more than she should have had to, but the silver lining is that it will make her more mature and she'll find new friends who are similar.

Take care of yourself too. You've been through a lot to. Thanks

Sostenueto your garden is beginning to look really lovely. I've no idea how you managed to get it looking so green.
Everything around here just looks thirsty! We even managed to miss the rain last night, even though the weather forecasters said it was 80% likely at one point. I was hoping it would clean the car for me!

It's good to have you back, Sostenueto. "...though I must admit at one point I didn't think I would!" is a bit concerning.

Hi mmzz my garden stops at trellis behind is my ,87 yr old neighbours garden! It took him over 20 years to get His garden that lush though now all his English annuals have died through heat and lack of water. I advised him to start planting more tropical hardy plants. On my little bit I have an arum lily a canary island date palm, blue grass ( festuca glauca intense blue) a ophiogon black grass (nigrescens) and an English annual celosia( deep purple) that looks oriental. That's sum total of plants in garden at the momentSmile.
Yes I had a week in hospital after treatment as pancreas couldn't cope anymore and I was out if it for a few days. Got to say the pain of pancreatitis beats chemo! But I pulled through intensive treatment and am on the up and up!

Sorry to hear that alwayshiding dd is suffering g from spiteful so called friends. I would actually tell did to completely ignore them all but that's easier said than done. My dgd would have soon got hold of the ringleader and socked it to her by now ( outside school)Grin but my thoughts and hugs sent to you and dd for all both if you have suffered at the hands of these morons on top of health issues. I will pray for things to improve very soon on both fronts for you bothFlowersFlowers

Sost, it's good to see you. You are an inspiration.
Alexander, ditto. :)
Really sending you both positive thoughts and hoping for much healing.

Always, my Dd had said her friendship group is changing and she is expecting to form new bonds next year. She's lucky in that there's been no big fall out, but she finds how self centred some of then are very wearing. The group has served its time. People will be looking for new friends is my point I suppose.
FlowersCakeGin for you all.

Always I sincerely hope your Dd finds a new group of sincere friends.

Dh says he feels like a weight has lifted knowing his scans are clear.

And today is the day Dd officially leaves school & we bring her home.

Hi all agree from experience new friendships form in sixth form. I also noticed (with great relief) how extra maturity helped DC s cope so much better in sixth form. The work and other pressures were hard but they were less bothered by friendship issues and smaller things and priorities etc changed and they were able to make better decisions and not get upset by day to day dramas etc

Ellen, Alexander Oddsocks and anyone else whose 'tagging' doesn't work - you can change your settings in 'My Mumsnet' at the top.

Flowers to all with health worries at the moment. puts things into perspective doesn't it?

yy to new friends in 6th form.

I did the "rain run" to get the washing in last night..... then it stopped after about 30 seconds Grin

After prom dgd said she going to make a determined effort in makeup and grooming and more importantly will try to ' come out of her shell' occasionally and meet new people to develop her friendship circle as only one of her friendship group will be going to same 6th form ( dependent on grades of course). Although friendship group will be going to different places they are determined to keep contact with each other. I hope they do as they are lively girls not pretentious in any way and all of them seem to have the spirit if all for one and one for all.

Sostenueto So glad and very relieved to hear from you - and I love the zen garden. Pup must be over the moon to be back with you! Glad to hear dgd is enjoying work experience. Star
Always so sorry those alleged friends were so thoughtless but I really do believe things will be better in sixth formThanks
Alexander big relief for DH over his MRI and hopefully his next appointment will bring more reassurance.
No news here as we wind down for the summer. DS2 refuses to tell me how he did in Y8 exams - forgetting I'll know anyway when I get his report!

Glad things are picking up, Sost. Do you have to have any more treatment? I love the garden.

BackForGood I have checked my settings, it still doesn't work!

It is a bit odd and the tagging not working for some. I get an email when someone tags me, but I can't see how to switch it off, even if I wanted to. Ditto when someone sends me a PM.
Is it possible that your email is filtering messages from Mumsnet.com? Maybe putting them in spam?

Mine go into spam, so I'm guessing that could be the problem for others to.

Thanks all for kind wishesFlowers won't know till next week if I have to have anymore treatment. Hopefully I won't need anymore. Pup will soon be a year old and has grown so much! She hasn't left my side since we were reunited! Sure she is trying to get into my skinGrin
Glad dh scans good alexander onwards and upwards! Perhaps hubby panicking and being overly body aware and who can blame himFlowers? After a scare you become extremely sensitive to your own body.
Dgd looking after me this weekend so burnt offerings is order of the day as she tries her hand at cooking! Grin I'd prefer a Wine but not allowedSad

OK. I lied Blush. It isn't in 'My Mumsnet'.
Go to the arrow in a circle next to Talk
Then 'Customise' from the drop down menu
The last one in the list (just above where it says 'Ignore Topics in Active Conversation') gives you the option of "Notify me when others mention me in a thread". If you tick that box, it will notify you and potentially go into spam.

Sost your garden looks fab.
Alexander hope your DH gets some answers soon. So sorry you had to cancel holiday. How is DD with the injury now?
always how sad for your DD ref prom. Girls are vicious.

Thanks for the new thread. Posting from holiday in Menorca. DD having an absolute ball with her best friend. Worth every penny I paid to bring best friend with us. They watched the sunset last night at the very edge of the island. They are so lucky to have such an incredible friendship. This girl is DD's rock. Really hope they end up at Sixth Form together. DD needs a friend at school.

I have that ticked, I still get emails if I'm PM'd but not if tagged. Nothing in spam either. Sigh. I used to get the round up as well but not anymore. Anyway, minor irritation only.

Jufus that's a beautiful photo!
Oddsocks you are a very generous person!
We're off to Hampshire today to visit the grandparents, hope it's slightly cooler than London! I keep looking at my garden thinking of improvements I could make and then counting it a good result if I've even watered it properly! Everything looks baked.
Sostenueto I can just imagine Pup as your shadow! I'm impressed dgd is cooking for you - despite promises, DS1 has done no cooking yet!

Thanks for the tag :) We have just come to the end of a week’s cruise to the Norwegian ffords which has been fab. Just waiting to disembark.
My dd is supposed to be starting NCS on 21st July but we had a call during the week asking if she could start the next day instead as her course is undersubscribed. She couldn’t change as we were on holiday and such short notice too. Also if they move lots from her course it will be even more undersubscribed :/ I hope they don’t cancel it.

Gorgeous photo @JufusMum - I am so looking forward to our holidays (3 weeks to go). Off to Wimbledon today (no 1 not centre court) but atmosphere will be fun and I have a bottle of bubbly.

DS1 starts his physics course at UCL tomorrow. I have the day off so it will be funny seeing him doing the commute while I stay at home.

We have started DS2 on Meritene shakes.
He is Not Impressed.

His paediatrician always said to make an appointment if his BMI drops below 16. He was discharged from paediatrics earlier this year due to his age, so I guess we would ask GP for a referral to a dietician?
