I've gone all unreasonably warm and fuzzy at being tagged in so we can continue to chat!

Not much to report here. DD is looking relaxed and freckly, has done several auditions for shows at the various 6th forms (not sure how that casting method works, as they won't know who's coming), a lot of cooking, a lot of gardening (it needs it!) and is popping off to stay with an auntie in Devon all next week. The prom went well - she and all her oddball friends travelled together, in remarkably colour-coordinated dresses, and looked lovely.

Do you think we are going for a record for the longest thread on MN

Not by a long chalk! The Archers is on Thread 90. Grin You'll need to get through to your GC's GCSEs to beat that!

thanks for the tag.
dd enjoying life just "hanging" with her mates at the moment, in between a few work shifts. Smile

Hi everyone. DS is on his last day of work experience and has been loving it thankfully. Off on holiday next week which will take us through to the end of July. Trying to think of things to do to distract ourselves until 23rd! Then DS is off to Reading Festival to (hopefully) celebrate exam results.

Thanks for the thread mmzz. I don't know why tagging me doesn't work. It should according to my settings. And I never get a copy of the round-up either. Sad

In other news... Strange wet stuff falls from sky!

I don’t get notifications of tags either.

Dh has an email from the hospital today. He has an appointment the week after next. Unfortunately that means we will have to cancel our holiday.

But then this morning he felt really ill , dizzy, headache & his face went numb & dropped so he took a taxi to the walk in centre. They told him off & said he should have gone to a & e as he would lose vital time if it developed into a full one. It resolved fairly quickly though.

I’m just waiting for him to come out of the GP now (walk in sent him)

DD (Y9) is going to Borneo next Easter. She has put some of her own money towards the trip and is planning to spend the summer holiday making some crafts (she is very good at this) to sell at the school fair in November.

AlexanderHamilton how far away is your nearest A&E? Isn't a stroke a 999 call?

OP posts:

AlexanderHamilton · 13/07/2018 17:32

Nearest a & e about 15mins by car (up to 30 if traffic)

But yes that’s what walk in we’re trying to say. He should have called 999

Dr chased MRI & it’s clear. He wants to refer to neurologist after he’s seen stroke clinic consultant.

They’ve changed his statins.

AlexanderHamilton Does this all reassure you versus where you were yesterday? It sounds like a positive step forward to getting the right treatment, even if it would be infinitely better if he didn't need the treatment in the first place.

In one way it does in that the mri seems to indicate no lasting effects. On the other hand what on Earth is going on? Dr says dh is very young to be experiencing this.

Report
mmzz · 13/07/2018 18:17

Dr says DH is very young to be experiencing this. Maybe that implies he is stronger and better able to recover? it must be so frustrating just not knowing what is happening, likely to happen in the future.

I am really sorry that your DH, and you and your family are all going through this, Alexander. Its really the one thing that puts every other worry into perspective.

He was very fit. Went running every night etc.

But when he was a teen (& also in his 30’s for a short while) he had an ED so who knows what damage that may have caused.

What I do know is the support this thread has given is amazing.

What a worry for you Alexander - let’s hope this pushes the medics into action.

DS has cricket today and tomorrow, has tickets for Wimbledon on Sunday (thanks to the ballot) and then is playing tennis himself all next week.

His books for his Philosophy and History pre-reading have arrived and are looking very shiny and unopened on the kitchen table...

GCSEs seems a distant memory now...

Found you all!

GCSE's what were they?! SATS results were given today - DS passed them all, doing very well in reading. Not overly invested in them, but his are not as good as DD was at that age. Only time will tell with that.

That weird wet stuff from the sky fell here too last night - very loud and interrupted the Sky satellite signal when DD was watching Love Island Grin

DD has one more week before NCS starts for us - a few days on a residential in Doncaster and then a few days in student accommodation in Liverpool City Centre. Sounds like fun - can I do it too?

Football season now done until end of August, so operation lose some lbs is now in full swing. Going to Center Parcs at end August and what to lose a stone by then. Going to try my best.

Hope all those suffering with illnesses are hanging in there. Flowers

DS2 is supposed to be trying to gain weight.

He has lost 1kg since January and his BMI is now 16.3. He might have to go back on the supplement shakes which he hates.

Just to say ‘hi’ and to wish those that are struggling my best wishes.

DD is gradually improving, taking it day by day and enforcing rest and recuperation. I’ve never been so exhausted and am struggling with my M.E among other things.

We had a lovely short break away last week, which did us all the world of good.

No other plans as DD can’t commit to working, volunteering or anything else really while her health is so fragile.

Prom was a disaster, with her ‘friends’ pretty much ignoring her existence which we think is due to the fact she’d been on a month’s study leave and was very much ‘out of sight, out of mind’. She felt very self conscious and ended up coming home early.

She hopes to reinvent herself and find new pals in September.

I just wish her health would improve to allow her to establish a social life, some independence and confidence.

She’ll get there, with our support.

What a shame about prom, Always. I think some new friends might be in order. There are a few DC on here who will be glad of a fresh start. I hope she continues to get better. Flowers

Alexander how scary for you all. I hope they get to the bottom of what's causing your DH's symptoms. My Ddad had a couple of TIAs that we knew about, but that was in his late 60s. More Flowers

All quiet here this weekend, boys with their father. We are going on holiday on Monday to Amsterdam which I'm rather unprepared for. On a propeller plane as well! Washing machine will be working overtime this weekend. My school broke up today. Over a week earlier than most other schools, I don't know how they get away with it? Not complaining, though. Smile

Found you all! Thanks mmzz for new threadxx my emoyos not working!
ALexander hugs and best wishes to you and dhxx
To all I have missed you! But am recovering now in leaps and bounds though I must admit at one point I didn't think I would!
Dgd has had a busy couple of weeks. Work experience at hospital fine and interesting, she has been to her friends house for 3 days where all the friendship group had great fun and then they came to dgds house for sleepover which was fun trying to fit in 5 teens in a 2 up 2 down tiny terraced house! They went to theme park and next day the town and beach all had so much fun dd said and so much laughter which is great!
Unbelievable how time has flown since exams started and finished.
My pup so pleased I'm home and she is back home too! I bought some black grass yesterday. Its peculiar how ornamental grasses are so tactile, I can't resist touching and stroking them. I love the blue grass which is like velvet to touch not spiky at all. I sit on step next to my tiny zen garden which is coming on nicely, every morning and all that's needed is a water feature and it will be complete.
Hope all are well and enjoying summer I am trying hard to read all I missed!
