Secondary schools in Addlestone

Hi my daughter goes the secondary school in 2019 and we are planning to move later this year. I need to be within an easy commute to Sunbury and my husband needs to get into central London. In terms of affordability Addlestone seems to hit a sweet spot but the schools don’t seem that great. Can anyone tell me anything about Jubilee Hogh School in Addlestone? Seen a house nearby but not sure if the school is any good. Latest ofstead rated it ‘good’.

I grew up in Walton and went to school in Hersham. My old school is now Three Rivers Academy, a brand new school. The other local secondary was Heathside in Weybridge. I was a peri teacher there for several years and it was a good school, but that is going back some years.
I have to say,I'd never heard of Jubilee HS before you posted - not sure if that tells you something, or whether it's a more recent school?

Hi Floottoot thanks for responding from what I can gather the school used to be called Abbeylands and was ranked the lowest performing school in Surrey. It then closed and reopened as Jubilee High school. It seems to have improved since then but I don't know how much. The last Ofsted was in 2015 so I guess they are due another inspection this year.

Don’t do it! Have a look at newly opened Chertsey High School.

My DCs went to school in Addlestone but not Jubilee.

I went to jubilee when it was abbeylands, both my sister's went when it became jubilee, awful school! Salesians which is just up the road in chertsey but catholic although i do believe they allow small amount of non catholic admissions or they used to, or heathside in weybridge. There is also fulbrook which is new haw but was always notoriously hard to get a place

Floottoot · 12/06/2018 08:04

Ah, ok...I remember Abbylands...but not for positive reasons!
Definitely look at Heathside. It was always a good school when I taught there ( admittedly, some years ago and under a different head).

Thanks I'll check out Chertsey to see if it would be in the catchment area

Chertsey is easier for getting to Sunbury.

Hi I would look at Chertsey High over Jubilee. It's new (I think they've only got year 7 there at the mo?) and it has a lot of teachers from Salesians in Chertsey (which has a very good reputation).

defnotadomesticgoddess · 12/06/2018 19:25

I think that there's no 6th form at Chertsey High, but I think they get access to Salesian 6th form in Chertsey if they want to go there.

SunnyA · 12/06/2018 19:52

Haven't seen anything nice in Chertsey that meets what we are looking for but I'll keep looking now I know there is a decent school there.
