Can anyone tell me the up to date picture on sport at CLFS. I visited a couple of years ago and the male 6th former who showed us around, along with some other girls that I met, all agreed that it wasn't a sporty school - more academic. When I asked which schools they played against in rugby it was definitely not the likes of RGS/ St John's - he told they had to play against more appropriate competition. Also - do we know if/ when the pool is likely to be finished?
Thanks so much.

My ds's Prep advised me not to consider as he is sporty.

I have one dc there and one about to start. It is true CLFS is an academic school rather than a sporty school per say. I would definitely say Epsom and St John's are more sporty and less academic, although both are now taking a more academic intake. DS is sporty and was offered places at all three but chose CLFS for academic side. I did wonder whether he would go for one of the others for the sports but wasn't swayed.
Assuming you have a DS not a DD.
If you go to www.schoolssports.com/FindYourSchool.aspx CLFS is listed along with other schools and you should be able to view fixtures and results. They do play St John's at rugby, and there is one year group where the rugby team that is very strong and CLFS boys do play county level. I would check out the twitter feed for the school's sports as well. CLFS have a generic sports one but St John's have a separate one for rugby.
Pastorally CLFS is fantastic and my DC is very happy.

The pool opened in the Autumn www.freemens.org/facilityphotos

Thank you so much this is so helpful. You're absolutely right that it can be pot luck whether your child happens to fall into a sporty year group. I've heard the new head is very popular but I don't know much about the new head/ direction that St John's might now go in. A lot of friends with kids at St John's say the house system can be a bit limiting on friendships. It's so hard isn't it - and then you have to hope that they actually get in to one of your preferred schools. Well done you getting both into CLFS. They'll have a fantastic education for sure. Thanks again.
