Most UK schools on do IB in 6 th form as an alternative to A level and level 3 Btecs, not in y10 or 11 instead of gcse, so do check. Otherwise why choose one that is so unusual, maybe not the best choice for your dc at the moment.

Presumably OP means the middle years IB programme, not the A level equivalent programme...

Maybe, but there must be schools in HK following UK curriculum and /or offering iGCSE.

Double check! The IB Diploma is done at 6th form (yr12 &13). It would be an unusual British school that does the Middle Years programme (11-16).

If the school is offering only Middle Years then they'll be experienced in advising movers.

Or just find a school that does GCSEs. She'll find differences between exam boards and coverage to date anyway.

Ahh crap. I misread that you were moving to UK... not from.

The school should be advising you on this. IB is usually offered in Y12 and 13 and even some schools that offer GCSEs at Y10/11 sometimes go to IB for the final two years.

If your daughter has started GCSEs this year in Y10, and is going to MYP in Y11 then let her stay in her existing year group. She should not have any issues, as MYP is far less prescriptive than GCSE courses. If she would have to start IB in Y11 (some schools out of the 'British curriculum' consider Y11 and 12 the final years) then you may wish to consider if she has the maturity to cope with the IB programme at her age - although it would be unlikely the school would suggest someone enter Y11 at 16 if it is the penultimate year of their school programme (unless she is highly academic).

Enjoy HK!
