School shirts for tall skinny DS??

My DS is nearly 14 and very tall and skinny. His collar size is 14.5, but he's 6'2". M&S shirts are typical, as if he goes for a shirt which fits his height, that's a 16 collar and even the skinny range are far too baggy. If he goes for the right collar size, the shirts are far too short in the arm/ body. Has anyone found somewhere that does shirts for tall skinny boys?! He can't be the only one.

These ones in long length:

M&S

They are wide, and the largest sizes are often out of stock for months at a time, but if you can get hold of them, they are definitely better than regular length.

However, DS, though tall and very skinny, hides most of his length ion his legs (the hunt for the holy grail of the 26" waist, 36" inside leg length school trousers still haunts my dreams every summer), sop if your DS is of similar overall dimensions but has a longer body, these shirts may not be enough of a solution.

Thanks cantkeep, but we tried those and even got them in 'skinny fit', but they were still far too baggy, so I have to take them back. He has got a long body and long arms. I feel your pain on the school trousers!

Ds2 sounds similarly proportioned, I ended up getting his shirts from Top Man and River Island - their “slim fit” were very slim....I think because they’re cut for young men, where M&S are probably still basing their sizing on middle aged, middle management types Grin

Top Man slim fit
Ted Baker slim fit

cantkeepawayforever · 04/05/2018 19:33

That's OK, sorry they weren't of any help. I would agree that places like Top Man are better - DS has trousers from there now, since BhS Extra Extra Long Slim Fit trousers became consigned to history, though they are still a bit short - for those of string bean proportions.

I would also say that DS prefers his shirts sail-like rather than in any way fitted ... though whether this is just because his shirts have ALWAYS been sail like and he is used to them that way is probably a moot point!

The m and s actual school shirts work.
Ds is 14 and 6 foot with similar sounding proportions. He wears the age 16 ones..they come in long length and skinny fit I think. Would need to go and look to find the exact details.

can you give me an idea of what they should cost? A place I sometimes use caters for tall young skinnies so is not often suitable for me now.

New look men's slim fit. xxs

Ds is skinny and tall - school ranges don't fit him....he gets trousers from River island....we're hoping he has broadened enough to fit the 28in waist so he can move on to extra long.

Sorry not to reply earlier. I thought the thread had died, but THANK YOU for all of the suggestions! Flowers

Tall DSs here - over 6ft and 14.5 and 15 collars.

Moss.co.uk do tall skinny ones which DS2 likes, but I find the poly/cotton mix a bit nasty and they don't wash/non-iron so well.

DS1 has more expensive tastes and like Charles Tyrwhitt 100% cotton non-iron, extra slim fit, long - they are fabulous and come out the tumble dryer perfect, ready to hang up Smile. They're not too expensive if you buy them in the sale.

Moss also do a 25% student discount for registered customers. Their "clearance" pages often have amazing bargains, though usually for people who are much thinner than me, or in unpopular sizes or colours.

the clearance page sometimes disappears

they do several ranges of price and quality. The synthetic suits, for example, are their cheapest range and I wouldn't touch them. They may not smell too good in hot weather.

Regular customers seem to get free delivery and free returns, I'm not sure how that works for new customers, but their returns policy seems very fair. It is shorter for sale items.
