Hypermobility - Extra time GCSE's

My DD has Hypermobility - rest breaks have been agreed in the forthcoming GCSE's (she was also offered use of laptop but decided against this because she uses an Ipad in school). DD was only diagnosed at the end of Yr10 although she has always struggled with poor pencil grip and slow writing (some adjustments made in class - missing every other question etc).

Obviously its too late to consider extra time for GCSE's but it maybe something we look at for A levels. Therefore just wondered how many children have access arrangements (extra time)
who have hypermobility and whether this was on the back of a consultant report (which we have) or whether other tests are required.

Tryingtogetfired - Totally agree DD has had no choice but to adapt and work at her handwriting and it has improved vastly ... its just the odd occasion where time constraints come into force and control of handwriting completely goes because time and control plus pain are too much too manage all at once. If they have time they can control the writing so it is neat if they have to write quickly then control is lost and hands become more painful because the grip is forced.

Yes I agree that this is the case - but ds has been motivated to overcome his weakness and I would say it has empowered him, he can now write sufficiently fast for it not to be a problem. He learnt to type just in case but decided he didn't need it. He has noticed he can change stuff, he doesn't have to just live with limiting conditions he can effect change. Life will not give him an out.
