Gcse results v's rewards

Hi, my son is sitting his Gcse exams this summer and I'm wondering if any of you have given cash rewards for their results? I'm hearing that parents have paid different amounts of £ for As Bs etc. Is this the done thing now? Thanks

I did this with our older two, and it didn't make any difference to the results.
I can't remember how much but it was so much per grade.
Both averaged mostly C's.

I have a problem doing this for dd, as she struggles and wouldn't want to make it worse.
I certainly wouldn't give more for a higher grade.
Haven't decided but might not mention it and tell her after the exams.

I think it's good ito praising their effort and hard work though, and for mine it went into their driving lesson fund.

Never offered or given a penny to any of my eight DC.

I will be rewarding dd after the GCSEs with cash - a pretty significant amount. I don't think it is motivating to her work hard - she would work hard irrespective of any monetary inducement. I want to give her the money as part of the celebration - its been a tough year since Christmas onwards and I want her to have a chilled and happy summer and good stuff to look forwards to

When ds does his GCSEs in two years time I will pay him by grade achieved - he isn't as motivated as dd. He is capable of good grades but needs a push to incentivise him

I think it's a personal decision tbh.
e.g mine won't be having a leaving party or prom after GCSE's as they all stay on to 6th form at her school.
it would have cost for a prom dress, transport, whatever entertainment they were having/meal etc.
I'd rather give her the money to benefit her over the next couple of years.
A bit here and there and maybe bits from extended family can amount to a nice little sum.
