Do you mean for exams? They need to be done again at the new institution

LIZS · 01/03/2018 20:12

What age in May 2016? For uni/DSA it is a Post 16 assessment required or hcp for a medical condition. For 6th form the previous would be valid.

Is this for A levels, or GCSE retakes?

IF so, and the student is now in a different school or college, the previous assessment can only be used if the new school/college already has an “established relationship” with the person who did the previous assessment AND can get a signed copy of the old assessment (not a photocopy).

It will be much quicker to get a whole new assessment done by the new school/college.

There will have to be a lot of evidence from current teachers about normal way of working whichever way it goes.

18 for gcses? Under 16 assessments are normally good for 3 years, plus under jcq rules it has to be established as the normal way of working.

User700800 · 01/03/2018 20:39

Yes he has Sen and spent a lot of time out of school so did GCSEs later than the "norm"

Afaik a post16 assessment is indefinite. Who did it?

Bluebonnie · 01/03/2018 21:07

LIZS - regulations have now changed.

If there is a change of “setting” to another ed establishment, para 7.6.1 of the 2017/2018 JCQ regulations applies.

Sounds as if OP’s son’s previous school or college wasn’t a feeder school to the current place so, as Theshittyend said, a new assessment needs to be done.

Thanks for all responses. So I'm assuming if he was still doing gcse's it would be fine but as it's a level it's not?
