Changing Secondary School Mid Year

Hello, I am new to this so hope I'm doing it right.

I have started the process to request a mid year change of secondary school for my son. He has ADHD and since starting at his current high school (School A) is also now suffering from sever anxiety. The school he is at is massive and he has a long journey to get there. The school I have asked for (School B) is half the size and easy walking distance and a good ofsted rating . I have had numerous meetings and phone calls with his current school and they have failed to put in place any of the agreed actions to help with his ADHD (he does not have a statement or EHCP) and have simply given him detention after detention for things that are part of his ADHD. The school I have requested he switches to have contacted his current school to make them aware but the Year head at school A said to me in a phone call just now that my son may jeopardize his chance of moving schools with his behaviour. When I looked at the process it said that if a space was available a move was possible. Can school A mess up the chance of a move by giving a bad report? or is the report just so school B know where they are starting from. Please help...Thank you xx

Experts will be along soon like @prh47bridge but when I completed an in year transfer form recently that asked the form to be signed by current head, we quoted some words from this site that said we had the right not to send the form to current head (there wasnt an issue at current school but I did not want head to know).

The LA/school accepted my argument and the current head has not seen the form.

No advice really but offering support. My DS is year 7 with adhd and I was so afraid of this sort of thing with the bloody detentions.

Luckily that has t happened to us, I’m sure you’ll get good advice on here though

Just to add that don't be bullied by school A as it sounds like they'd breach admissions code. I'm also shouting out to @admissions for you. So many have helped me on here previously.

@tiggytape too. sorry to those I've missed!

It states in the admissions code that a child cannot be refused on the grounds of behaviour, unless there have been 2 exclusions.
