It's almost 2018 and we're thinking of the coming A-levels in summer. Were some of the 2017 A-Levels marked using the new 9-1 grade system? I can't find any 9-1 A-Level results anywhere on Google. help!

This page says: "June 2017. First new A level exams in Phase 1 subjects"

They’re a new spec, but A/B/C etc grades

Thanks ScaryDinosaurs. Will the 2018 A-Levels be using "9-1"?

9-1 is up to GCSE level. Schools are generally using them from the start of year 7. The idea is that they give a more seamless transition from the old KS3 levels to GCSE outcomes.

No!
A levels are keeping the A*-E grades. The changes at A level mean that all exams are now at the end of the 2 year course and any AS level marks don't count towards the final grade. There are also changes so that there are no controlled assessments in subjects such as Science so more subjects are 100% exam based.
The changes at GCSE are to differentiate the better candidates by having more grades at the "top" end of the scale and to provide a better transition from GCSE to A level. Fewer GCSE subjects now have courseworl/controlled assessments as well.
There is no correlation between the old numbered KS3 levels and the new GCSE grades - they are both totally different systems!

Sorry cats if any confusion re KS3 levels in my post- that's what I meant! Pre 9-1 we would talk about levels and expected outcomes at ks4 and there would often be a gap between y9 attainment levels and GCSE grade predictions subject to subject. 9-1 is supposed to stop that as students attaining a 3 in y9, for example, should progress onwards from that in their GCSEs.

The A level reforms were NOT a change to grades. That was GCSE only.

There were new style A levels this year, yes. The 9-1 thing was GCSEs and pupils got a mix of 9-1 and A-G if friend's children's results were anything to go by.
