West London Girls schools - which are "easiest" to get into?

DD has belatedly decided that she likes girl's schools better. She is a very diligent pupil and in top English but middle maths at her prep - are there girls school in west London where she stands a chance? from what I can tell all the girls schools have super academic entrance requirements.

Is Queens Gate too far in for you? Lovely school, particularly for girls with 'spikey' profiles.

The consortium helps - it makes it quite easy to apply for several schools and sit one exam (or two). Francis Holland x 2, Queen’s College, Queen’s Gate and St James are easier than Notting Hill and Ealing, which again is easier than G&L which is very selective. (And NLCS and SPGS even more so).

I’d give Notting Hill and Ealing a go still, if it is nearby - yes, great results, especially as it is not as oversubscribed as e.g. G&L.

Since your DD is at a prep, I’m sure you’ll get good advice from the head. What have you been told?

We are very happy with FHS Regent’s Park for a girl with perhaps a similar academic profile to yours. Good luck!

It is quite hard to know where a DC sits in the overall cohort, so it is worth trying a bit of a range, perhaps a GDST (Ealing, Putney) then FH x2, Queens Gate and Queens College. St James is often seen as a bit less selective, partly because its founding philosophy deters some. Another for the list is More House, which is Catholic, but not emphatically so, and which claims a high value added.

When looking, it is worth focusing on GCSE results as girls move a lot for sixth form, often to more selective girls schools.

Thanks so much, your replies have been so helpful. we did see NHEHS and really liked it but her commute would be bus, tube then the walk up the hill which seems tough to do every day

What is your closest station?

Depends where you are but, St Catherine’s Twickenham, Marymount Kingston, Surbiton High, St Augustine’s Ealing, More House Knightsbridge. Clapham and Streatham High.
If you are near Clapham Junction you could also consider schools outside London such as Woldingham
