If so, what did they choose to do? Have been brainstorming with DD what she'd like to do, but I don't know much about the requirements so can't really come up with any ideas for her that are realistic/viable/fit the requirements of what is needed.

I teach year 12 WBQ. Is this the KS4 or KS5 challenge.

She's just started A level college (missed that detail out of my op, sorry!) .

There are a wide range of approved challenges with local organisations/charities she could choose from if she's stuck. The college should have access to them. They maybe on the WJEC website. It's a good starting point and may help spark some ideas.
It's important that she picks something that will allow her to do 30hrs of actual activity. Planning time does not count towards her time.
Previous students of mine have mainly coached other younger learners. Such as- art club after school, set up sport clubs with local primaries and clubs, study clubs, music tuition, run scout activities, religious youth groups, worked with local refugees (English lessons for children), worked with a nearby elderly residential home and run 'silver surfer' ICT lessons on how to set up Skype/Facebook/do online shopping, set up a community garden group and run a series of craft activities at a local museum. It is also good to pick something that will allow her to collect lots of evidence.

We're about to have at least one Welsh bacc yr 12 with us at our local community library - early stages, but so far thoughts include organising and running Welsh language storytelling sessions (we have a local storyteller who has offered her service previously), sorting out the local primary's in-school library & working with the children, running some basic tablet/smartphone skills sessions for older people.

My dd + a couple of friends did their KS4 challenge based around the library in a different primary working with the children.

My dd taught dance to younger children in her dance school. Some others in her Year used the school's Buddies reading sessions -reading with Y7 students-as their challenge.

She's not in a sixth form college that has access to secondary pupils, as it's separate, or I'd have suggested something like that.

She's keen to do something coaching, but isn't sporty so was thinking of something along the lines of literacy or ICT. She's most interested.

I work in a primary and she was wondering whether she could come and do something useful in my school helping children learn to read in some way - not just listening to readers obviously.
