normally around Christmas, isn't it? or maybe a bit later

Anne2300 · 02/09/2017 08:54

Normally January. But telegraph often do a top 100 type around this time (the independent school A Level one is out.) This is based in info submitted voluntarily by the schools themselves, some schools are not there.

Yr10DD · 03/09/2017 20:47

There was something in the Telegraph yesterday for Indy GCSEs - a few schools I know of were missing though and don't know why this would be. Any ideas please?

Ta1kinPeece · 03/09/2017 21:05

January
like normal

DizzyDandelion · 04/09/2017 10:25

Hate league tables.
Such blunt instruments....

BubblesBuddy · 04/09/2017 10:33

The official data from the govt is very informative. You can interrogate lots of data, e.g. fsm, pp, prior attainment, grades of exam passes, absence and lots more, to make judgements. Exam results are not the only data a savvy parent looks at these days.

DizzyDandelion · 04/09/2017 10:46

Unfortunately, not all parents are savvy and look at Headline figures or dodgy data analysis done by local rags etc...

DizzyDandelion · 04/09/2017 10:47

Also not all data is contextualised properly.
FFT a bit better than most I think...

Ta1kinPeece · 04/09/2017 15:10

FFT is not as good as they make out.
When I was a governor we found huge margins of error in it

BubblesBuddy · 04/09/2017 15:51

If parents cannot be bothered to interrogate info, then they don't care that much and league tables will do, won't they? Most parents know a good school vs a dire one so even league tables are beside the point for many parents.

DizzyDandelion · 04/09/2017 15:57

mmmm- have a feeling we will never agree Bubbles....
Lot of room for interpretation as to what is a 'good' school or a 'dire' one...

The Sunday Times Parent Power is usually published on the 2nd weekend in November. HTH

NWgirls · 05/09/2017 07:27

BR:

State school data:

  • Provisonal in October ("before 31 Oct", not sure there is a more exact date anywhere)
  • Final in January 2018

Source is page 4 and 11 here:
https://www.scomis.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Schoolanddcollegeperformanceetables20177Statementoffintent.pdf

Last year the final data had only some very minor changes vs. the provisional for the schools I looked at.

For parents, October is obviously "just in time" before submitting school preferences on CAF.

AnguaResurgam · 05/09/2017 07:39

I thought the DofEd had changed how it presented figures, and the actual number of exam passes by grade was no longer available.

Ta1kinPeece · 05/09/2017 13:29

The Sunday Times Parent Power is usually published on the 2nd weekend in November
but its not based on the proper data so as worthless as the others

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 05/09/2017 14:29

Well thats very cynical Ta1kinPeece. Next you'll be claiming that Sunday Times school of the year awards are given to the schools that spend the most on PR and marketing and they aren't actually the best schools in England.

Ta1kinPeece · 05/09/2017 17:38

Heaven forfend Grin

Copperbeech33 · 05/09/2017 18:37

The official data from the govt is very informative.

no it isn't. It is statistically invalid.

NWgirls · 20/09/2017 11:17

Provisional data on 12 October:
