Child Benefit for post 16 teens staying in full-time education

Received a leaflet and form to complete - from HMRC - back in late February, as a result of which I confirmed that it was DS's intention to stay at current school to do A levels. Assuming that as this is still the case I don't need to do anything else? I'm finding the booklet (which I've kept) unhelpful. I seem to think that I only held onto the info booklet on the off-chance that DS has to change school (in which case I would have had to contact HMRC at this point in time). However, I may be wrong?

That is fine from my recollection. You'll get another form for y13 too.

Thanks @TeenTimesTwo. I should have photocopied the completed form as an aide-memoire!

Yes, you have to inform them each year that your DC is staying on into further education.

I only sent mine off recently, forgot about it as didn't know where ds was going.

I didn't get a second form for either of my older daughters though.

I didn't get a second form for my eldest who's about to go into yr 13 - two of my friends did for their daughters. This has reminded me to keep an eye on the payments this month.

Instead of sending a form for Year 13, HMRC sent me a letter saying it was stopping in September. I phoned them up and it was probably the easiest complaining phonecall I've ever had to make. Two minutes after speaking to a person, I was told it was being reinstated and had a letter two days afterwards confirming that.

Any questions about it at all, I'd phone them.

Thanks for your replies. I doubted myself for a half-truth I read on MSE.

Not quite sure why I doubted myself though - I have the type of brain that doesn't allow me to forget such things (although there's always a first time)!

I did the same in yr12 & had a letter back saying the payments would continue for two years unless something changes. Hmm something I need to keep an eye on then.
