Lower 6th exam results & predicted grades?

Can anyone tell me whether end of year (internal exams) matter much for predicted grades on UCAS forms?

DS2 is doing maths & sciences. Has consistently been predicted and (mostly) getting A* in school.

He's just had loads of AS levels (since maths is unreformed) and prioritised those and didn't really do much revision for his school exams.
As a result, his school exam results are well below his predicted A* level.

Is this going to affect the predictions that go on the UCAS form - do teachers have to declare the results of internal school exams?

Internal exams are of no interest to UCAS, although obviously they might inform the school's predicted grades for your DS.

Predicted grades will be a compromise between child and school -- in the normal run of things, the school should offer predicted grades that support whatever applications he's making unless they really believe he won't achieve them (for example based on AS results).
