GCSE maths revision tips

I'm teaching legacy re-sits and I'm looking for revision tips - I'm doing a lesson this week using revision clocks which I think my class will like... just wondered if I'm missing anything fabulous / any words of wisdom??

Main problems with my lot are them putting little to no effort in outside of class (but working hard in class) - they're adults so difficult to enforce homework - I tell them that it's often misreading questions / not answering questions / spending too long on low mark questions (hence the revision clock lesson)

Just wondering what works for others :)

I'm not a teacher, but I always think it is important in maths not to panic if you do not understand something and are struggling with a topic. Just walk away from it because your subconscious will work on it while you are thinking about other things. Each time you come back to it, it will be easier.

Also when younger, I had the idea it was not worth doing past papers as they would not ask those same questions from the past again. It took me ages to work out doing past papers and then going through the mark scheme is the best way of improving results.

A walking-talking mock style lesson? You give them a past paper, tell them to do Q1-5 in exam conditions (or better, pick questions you know they mess up on, like QWC questions), give them an appropriate amount of time to do them in silence (a minute a mark) then go through the answers thoroughly, show them a model answer, the examiner report and pick up any common errors/misconceptions and discuss how to avoid (e.g. highlight the key words in the question then review at the end to make sure the question has been answered).
