Westminster School food

Hello, my son is considering whether to accept a place at Westminster and seems to think it has a reputation for terrible food. Is there truth in this? Any views gratefully received (meals obviously being a pretty important factor for an 11 year old boy).

If he's 11 then it'll be Westminster Under School, won't it?

Or is this icw conditional offer for Westminster itself? Boarding or Day place, if so?

I've never heard anything about the food one way or another, at either school btw. But I know only day pupils, and it could be quite a different consideration if you have a prospective boarder.

I think most schools have a reputation for terrible food. I don't know anything about the food at Westminster but, unless he is boarding, I wouldn't even let it enter the equation - it's only one meal a day. If he's boarding, however, it would be more of a concern.

DS thought it was great. He used to go in for breakfast or at least until he reached the age where he could not get up in the morning and stay for supper, doing his homework with his friends in the library, and know which day he needed to be at the front of the lunch queue. DD joined in sixth form and thought it cooler till she ran out of money to hang out at lunchtime in Ecco pizza or Pret, or the sandwich bar favoured by rowers as it allowed you to select all the available toppings in one sandwich. But went in happily for Sunday brunch to meet up with boarder friends.

It may depend on who he has been talking to Smile. There were tales, perhaps exaggerated, of scions of the super-rich sending their chauffeur/bodyguards out for takeaways from top London restaurants or paying other boys to pick up coffees from Costa. But this would be a minute minority. Mine were happy, and indeed because of boarders, the school will be under pressure to make sure it is palatable.

Food at Westminster is great. I think you get grumbles everywhere.
