St Mary redcliffe is not Catholic but catholics do go there.
There is a Catholic secondary in Bristol though but I can't remember the name

IveBecomeSoNumb · 13/02/2017 09:50

Backwell is considered a brilliant school. Excellent languages provision and behaviour is of a fantastic expected standard. The primary's in Backwell are fantastic also.

Mariamoreno · 13/02/2017 09:50

Thanks it's good to hearing about interesting options!Smile

Agree backwell is excellent.
Backwell, Clevedon and gordano are in North Somerset rather than Bristol.
You would need to live in backwell to go there. Some key ds do attend from further out including Bristol but it's getting trickier

Mariamoreno · 13/02/2017 10:05

Thanks a lot! Are there another place where it's fine for living going to Blackwell as I read by internet it's than a small town with a lot all old people....

I think Blackwell is full of families who moved there for the schools. I have a friend who did so about twenty years ago when her kids were little. She loves it and there seems to a massive diner party/party circuit going on. It's quick to drive to Brstol for shopping, evenings outs and you can also get the bus and train.

reup · 13/02/2017 10:12

Meant to write Backwell.

Footle · 13/02/2017 10:13

You also need to think about commuting to work. Bristol traffic can be as slow as central London.

Mariamoreno · 13/02/2017 10:22

Thanks a lot! It same nicer that I read Smile!
My husband will be working in Filton
For me I don't know as I'll leave my actual job in France I'll look for something one time we will be there

If your DH is working at Filton you may be better off living in South Gloucestershire, rather than Bristol itself. It is slightly cheaper and less gridlocked. Bradley Stoke is a cycle ride from Filton and the secondary school is pretty good I think. Avoid Winterbourne Academy or Patchway School (close to Filton). If you are able to live further out Katherine, Lady Berkeley, in Wootton-under-Edge, has a very good reputation (but a very silly name - most folk just call it KLB).
There are other schools in the area too. South Gloucestershire is basically the northern edge of Bristol and some suburbs!

We looked at moving to backwell for schools but yes it us a bit if uninspiring place, Clevedon is much nicer. Having said that we would have happily moved to backwell and people we know there are happy. But yes as an actual suburb it is a bit underwhelming. But people will put up with that as schools are good and it's a quick hop to Bristol

2014newme · 13/02/2017 10:25

Would Thornbury be an option that has good schools

Mariamoreno · 13/02/2017 10:37

In this moment we are living in France outside of the city expuse the children school is there....our first idea was to live in Bristol around this places
More or less
: Clifton, redland, cotham, westbury-on-trym, henleaze
But finally I know we will be near the children school

I agree Backwell has a good reputation, as does Gordano.

Yes Backwell is a smallish town but that's not a problem really. It's rather near Bristol and has a nice community feel (it's very near me in fact!).

I agree I would take Bedminster Down off your list. It's an improving school but they do have their problems. More with anti-social stuff rather than drugs I think.

All schools will have a certain amount if problems though. My sisters dcs went to an international school abroad where it was very expensive to attend and they have a drug problem (for example).

St Mary Redcliffe is Church or England. You'll need proof of attending church to apply.

oklumberjack · 13/02/2017 10:50

I also agree that Clevedon is lovely. If I had my time again I would def consider it.

Mariamoreno · 13/02/2017 10:56

Thanks you are all very nice with me! As I don't know any body it's really helpful
Clevedon I'll have a look too !
I thinks we will star to focus in Blackwell and clevedon
Your opinion and other in internet about this school are nice
Because I don't know anybody I like to be in Bristol or very close
We have time but in my husband company they said a date for moving but it's very possible one year before el it's because I'm looking for know I don't feel like to arrive there without knowing where to what to look for

Last question Wink please
What about
Backwell

Cothan
Readland

I think cothan and readland are in Bristol? Are they as good as backwell?
Thanks a lot

OP posts:
oklumberjack · 13/02/2017 12:57

Well they both have good reputations. Redland Green as a very tiny catchment area as it's very popular.

You can't really choose a school on paper. You'll have to check all your info with the Ofsted website.

oklumberjack · 13/02/2017 12:59

www.gov.uk/school-performance-tables

Try this. Or google Ofsted to find a school report.

Wheresthattomoibabber · 13/02/2017 13:00

What's your housing budget? No point in deciding on Redland if you can't afford it!

Mariamoreno · 13/02/2017 13:10

We need 3 bedrooms I wouldn't like pay more than 1300£ more or less Hmm i didn't think about it! Bon question thank
I don't have idea about prices in Bristol

OP posts:
Wheresthattomoibabber · 13/02/2017 13:35

Do you mean £1300 a month rent? Or are you planning to buy?

Wheresthattomoibabber · 13/02/2017 13:35

Bristol is expensive!

Mariamoreno · 13/02/2017 13:42

Renting between 1500 1300£ or months
No more
