wonder how long it will be until schools in Richmond & Kingston have non voluntary charges (don't Tiffin "charge" £500 per pupil per year which you have to have a good reason not to pay?)

Every school is moving towards the same position. Schools will be forced to make significant changes to how things operate to enable them to set a budget that matches the funding provided unless there is an increase in funding.
The new national funding formula of which the consultation has come out today is also not good news as those LAs that are poorly funded (and Richmond and Kingston is not one of them, along with most in the SE) do not seem to have done well from what is supposed to be fairer funding. It is not looking like that for my 3 schools who are looking at a reduction in funding of 3% on top of all the other pressures that the letter talks about.

Richmond and Kingston are 2 of the top performing boroughs nationally. It would be interesting to see what income per pupil their schools receive compared to others in the country, anyone know how to find out?

Good to see these heads saying that budget cuts are only going to worsen the teacher recruitment and retention crisis, unlike some on here who said 'teachers will just have to suck up not getting a pay rise again'.

The government is acting totally irresponsibly and at some point the shit will really hit the fan.

Yep Irene can't get anything meaningful from that. Someone has posted the cost per pupil rates at senior schools before so it is available somewhere. I was just wondering if the reason Richmond and Kingston do so well nationally is because in the past they received more funding and if so wouldn't the sensible thing to do be to bring everyone up to that level not drag them dowm IYSWIM.

The level that they are currently receiving of #4502.90 per pupil for Richmond and #4594.40 for Kingston is the kind of figure they will have been receiving for a number of years. It is more complicated in that whilst the figures quoted are what the LA get, the LA will then have their own individual funding formula, which could significantly alter what each school is getting. Typically secondaries will get more funding than primary schools per pupil.
As a guide the lowest funding level is #4166.51, so in the run of things these two LAs are relatively average but the upper end is rather higher being Tower Hamlets at 6982.
