Pupil Premium

Has anyone's pupil premium stopped? I have found out that after 5 years of receiving pupil premium, my children are no longer eligible for it!!!! We adopted the children from Scotland in 2009 aged 26months and 16months. They are very distance relations. We receive support from Norfolk County Council in the form of therapy and other family support. We have just been told that since the new Guidelines for Pupil premium 2015 to 2016: conditions of grant have come into place - the school can no longer claim for them because the children were born in Scotland!!! this I think is outrageous and discrimination the children need the extra support the school can supply but will this be unavailable now due to cuts! anyone else experiencing this - and can anyone offer me advice as to how I can take this further.

Yes- it's those that ceased care in England and Wales only, I'm afraid.
We're you living in England or Scotland when you adopted?
I imagine this will affect so few cases, dfe wont have a plan for it.
As the money comes from different pools, and Scotland's education funding is devolved to them, I doubt you could challenge it tbh.

Also- those still in care, have to be in care to an English authority, presumably for same reasons that the Welsh and Scottish education budgets are devolved.

They have a social worker assigned to them for their therapy support

It is the same for international adoptions - they are not entitled to PPG as post-LAC.

I think it will be hard to take action as there was never a direct expectation that all of the grant would necessarily be spent on the individual pupils attracting the grant.

Were your dc in care in England?
