Dd & ds school

Hi my dd 15 year 10 and ds 11 y7 school informed us this week that they are going to change the school uniform after loads of discussions last year with students parents teachers and govorners. The school informed us that they are going to bring in a more practical uniform and and replace the old uniform. What's everyone's opinion
New uniform
School jumper school polo shirt school trousers plain black footwear no boots heels slip on shoes or non plain black footwear
Old uniform
School blazer school shirt school tie school trousers school shoes no trainers pumps boots or heels or non black shoes

Either sounds fine. DD's school has a uniform like your new one except with shirt and school tie instead of the polo. It's practical and the jumper actually looks smarter than ill-fitting polyester blazers. ( also there's the option of a skirt which most of them choose rather than trousers).

No slip on shoes sounds weird for girls many of whom will wear ballet flats.

Move from Blazer/tie to polo/jumper sounds reasonable if they have had discussions, though personally I think blazers are good for carrying stuff around, especially for girls who tend to have useless pockets in trousers/skirts.

I would look for them to have a transition time, so current y10s can see out y11 in existing uniform (if school stops y11). I wouldn't be all that amused to have to buy new stuff before it is worn out, but if only jumper/polo shirt that's not too much.

I would think that's exactly why no slip-ons has been stipulated - ballet flats are pretty impractical. I'm not sure whether they were actually banned at DDs but most of them chose brogue-type shoes anyway.

The school are banning slip on shoes with the new uniform. The schools new shoe policy is school shoes or plain black lace up pumps or plain black trainers as alternative to school shoes no boots heels slip on shoes or non plain blackfootwear

There is a poster who has posted both here and on Netmums many times, always about the appropriateness or otherwise of school footwear.

Sometimes it's "I don't spend any cash on school shoes, I let my teenager go to school in a pair of old fake Uggs / fake Converse / cheap plimsolls, here's the picture"

Sometimes it's a rant about uniform changing and needing shoes, and will these plimsolls/Uggs/trainers be OK?

It's always about teenagers and shoes though. WEIRD.
