Here we are everyone.

From what DS's school has said, the AS/A2 material and syllabus is pretty similar BUT the difference is in the Assessment Objectives and the actual exam questions which makes co-teaching very difficult. So for example, for History, the questions they would answer on Italian Unification at AS would be very different (easier, more structured) to those at A2. And then if they decided to progress to A2 they would still have to do the Italy paper in Y13 but it would be different.

DS was getting in a right state trying to remember all his dates etc for History tomorrow so I've administered liberal doses of rescue remedy all round (including me - I'd have done the dog if he'd been still long enough). This one doesn't even count but school has treated them like the real thing and has said they will base predicted grade on the outcome which has made them revise.

Can't believe we still have another 3 weeks of this Sad

bigTillyMint · 23/05/2016 17:08

OMFG.

DD was given the wrong paper. The resit for Y13. The idiot invigilators gave her the wrong one because she was sitting at the back. She didn't realise until after the exam and was talking to her friend. She rang me, understandably hysterical.

I am so, so proud of her - she has managed to calm down and is now sitting the correct paper. Soooooo brave of her to go back and do it. And she had already done an AS this morning too.

Apparently - according to the Exams Officer - it was because the papers were so similarConfused She has rung the board and apparently there have been several incidences because the papers were so similar.

I am in shock, never mind my poor wee DDSad

bigTillyMint · 23/05/2016 17:10

Ono, 3 weeks? Thank God DD finishes on Thursday lunchtime, especially after today.

HSMMaCM · 23/05/2016 17:16

Btm your DD is a star. Mine would have fallen to pieces and given up on the whole exam session I think.

OP posts:
OddBoots · 23/05/2016 17:17

Oh your poor DD bTM, how horrible for her I hope she will get special consideration for the correct paper. Is she doing it right now?

bigTillyMint · 23/05/2016 17:23

Yep, doing it right now. She will get special consideration and I think the Exam Officer said something about the Exam Board making adjustments or something.

I am sooooo proud of her - she was in bits but she still got herself together to try again.

Abraid2 · 23/05/2016 17:27

bTM, Shock

LittlehumHams · 23/05/2016 17:31

bigTilly That sends shudders down my spine. Your poor daughter. Shock

Auntpetunia2015 · 23/05/2016 17:45

OMG btm that's outrageous the examination officer is so in the wrong. My big concern would be the comment that she was talking to someone who'd just done the paper, that could cause problems if it gets said to the Board. Don't want to scare you or DD and would hope school know better than to mention it.

Hope it all went OK in the end.

Horsemad · 23/05/2016 17:59

Shock BTM. But seriously impressed with your DD, she is a STAR, bless her. Flowers

GetAHaircutCarl · 23/05/2016 18:20

btm Shock.

I hope she's okay!

SugarPlumTree · 23/05/2016 18:34

BTM, I haven't got words Shock A huge well done to your DD for getting on with it.

bigTillyMint · 23/05/2016 18:45

She did it! She did it! So proud of her. She was fine when she came out, and her lovely friends had waited for her (stayed revising in the library) so they have gone off to get chicken and chips as a treat!Grin

As there were only 2 of them given the wrong paper (2 Y13's were doing the AS resit - they gave it to DD and the other girl too - surely they clocked there should have only been 2 of them doing that one?) she said nobody else looked baffled so she thought it was just her and just tried her best. I think she must have been mighty relieved when she realised it wasn't her but the wrong paper.

She came back so soon after the end of the exam, I don't think there was an issue with "cheating." I think DH would be down the exam board PDQ if they tried to claim that!

PurpleAlerts · 23/05/2016 18:56

What a nightmare bigTilly good on your DD for pulling it together!

Well DD finished her AS exams today. Music was described as "not awful"with some nice essays and an easy 4 part.

Psychology 2 "went very well" and this from a girl who always sees on the side of caution when talking about how an exam went so that sounds promising.

She has an A2 Geog skills paper in a few weeks time ( because they have done the field work this year) but she's not too worried about that as unlikely to carry on with Geog anyway.

So now the agonising wait till August 18th for the Results. Good luck to all the DC s with exams to come!

dingit · 23/05/2016 19:08

Well done your Dd Big Tilly y Dd is horrified on her behalf SadFlowers

HSMMaCM · 23/05/2016 19:25

DD has taken the warning btm and will make sure she gets the right paper (separate room for exams).

Good on her friends waiting for her.

OP posts:
dingit · 23/05/2016 19:40

Dd has a clash tomorrow and has to be in isolation for lunch. Her packed lunch has to be in a clear bag. She even wants her mini roll unwrapped and put in tin foil. I did point out she wouldn't manage to get the answers to Physics A level on a mini roll wrapper Grin

namechange7711 · 23/05/2016 20:13

Oh My God BTM what an absolute nightmare and you must be so proud of your DD that she just put it behind her and went straight back in to do the correct paper. Definitely worthy of a special treat this weekend, methinks.

HSMMaCM · 23/05/2016 20:38

Ding it I have told DD no writing on her hands (which she does regularly) in case she's accused of cheating.

OP posts:
Fairenuff · 23/05/2016 21:05

Well done to your dd BTM, she rose up in the face of adversity and did herself (and you) proud Smile

LineyReborn · 24/05/2016 06:10

Physics this morning.

DS has woken me up coughing. Not a good sign.

LittlehumHams · 24/05/2016 08:32

Physics too for dd3. Three of my dc doing major exams today. Even ds is doing exam revision.

House looks like a bomb has hit it as I stupidly decided it would be a good time to decorate (as none of us can go anywhere at the moment). Am at that regretting having started stage.

Hope your dd is ok this morning bigTilly.

bigTillyMint · 24/05/2016 09:46

Good Luck to all Physics-takers and for any other exams.

Liney, hope your DS is OK.

DD seemed quite upbeat last night - I think she was mainly relieved that it was the wrong paper, not her not knowing the answers IYSWIM! Thankfully the next exam is tomorrow afternoon, but then her last one is Thurs morning, so she needs to do a bit for that too today.

LineyReborn · 24/05/2016 09:59

Tillymint, your DD is very resilient!

DS is ok thanks - just a cough, nothing worse - but was very quiet this morning.

I feel very nervous for him. He so badly wants to do well, and aim for a science degree at university.

LineyReborn · 24/05/2016 11:16

Verdict on Physics - 'not fun'.

Oh dear.
