Here we are everyone.

Fortunately for us both DC are suffering together.

But it is leaving DH and I at a bit of a loss. We're just kinda waffling about, doing a few chores, watching a bit if telly etc. Feels like treading water.

LittlehamHums · 28/03/2016 12:13

Same! Boring isn't it? When I go out I feel guilty and when I don't I'm bored.

I should have had quads. Grin Twins was a good plan Eric.

CamboricumMinor · 28/03/2016 12:35

It's the same here, DD is refusing to go out except for revision sessions with her BF and BF (best friend and boyfriend - two different people) and DS is playing out, I'm stuck indoors and bored. I could go and do the housework but I'm not that bored

Horsemad · 28/03/2016 12:53

This is the third Easter in a row we have had a whiteboard set up in the living room! I am sick of hearing Maths talk...

Only next year to go and that (hopefully) will be that!

LittlehamHums · 28/03/2016 12:57

Easter Envy I've calculated we will get Easter back in 2020.

LineyReborn · 28/03/2016 13:26

So DS has jacked in chemistry completely. He's aiming for AAA in maths, physics and biology, to study Biological Sciences or Microbiology. It is feasible - just. He seems a lot happier, anyway, which is a relief.

bigTillyMint · 28/03/2016 13:41

Same here I think Littleham - if DS does A'levels after GCSEs next year!

DS is revising ATM (got 2 GCSEs this year) DD has just got up, but is going to do some revision. Apparently. She was out till late last night - so no problems with her refusing to go outGrin

bigTillyMint · 28/03/2016 13:50

Xpost Liney - glad to hear your DS is feeling happier. It is such a pressure on them all - AAA seems to be standard for so many courses at RG unis that the schools push so hard

TeacupsandFigs · 28/03/2016 14:14

Twins would have been a good option. We've got the problem of having to apply to university and high school at the same time and then one will be starting uni at the same time as the other starts high school.

ono40 · 28/03/2016 16:07

DS went off to his revision bootcamp course this morning moaning like mad (well it was early and we were in the middle of a storm). However he has just come back (after lunch at Wagamama courtesy of DH) saying it was very useful! Phew....

Like everyone else I am yearning for the Easters of old when we could all chill and relax or visit family instead of this revision madness. We will have a few free Easters after next year before DS2 starts it all again in 2021...eek!

EricNorthmanSucks · 28/03/2016 16:13

Whilst twins were challenging in the early years, I feel like lots of things have been easier as they got older.

Not least that all stages have only happened once, allowing me to give full attention.

I'm not certain I have the temperament to relive the same scenarios multiple times. My attention span is pathetically short and I am far too selfish.

TeacupsandFigs · 28/03/2016 16:30

Eric I think that twice is my limit. A friend of mine has 9 children, all in school. I have no idea how she copes. She's going through the ordeal that is GCSEs for the first time next year and then every year for 9 years. I suspect that shares in hair dye companies will be a good investment....

bigTillyMint · 28/03/2016 19:21

That's great, ono. And on a bank hol too!

My two are 19mo apart and DS has always thought he was DD's twin! I wish he had been, then we would only have a year to go!

Having said that, I feel much less anxious about DS's GCSE's than I did with DD's, but that may partly be down to them having different personalities too.

HSMMaCM · 30/03/2016 18:04

We have 5 girls at our house having a revision sleepover allegedly. I refused to host the boys too.

OP posts:
HSMMaCM · 30/03/2016 22:08

Final rehearsal for a group drama assessment tomorrow. One girl can't be bothered to go !!!! DD is now raging round the house shouting about group chats.

BackforGood · 30/03/2016 23:52

dd has been on 'revision avoidance' today.
Actually helped me empty a room (to be decorated) this morning, then came to the supermarket with me this afternoon. In between has made some cake, played lots of piano, offered to make the decorators lots of cups of tea, played a bit of guitar, and, I think - for about 10mins - looked at a book once. Hmm

Back to it tomorrow I hope.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 31/03/2016 08:16

Hmm, yes BackForGood not sure how much revision has been going on here either. I went out with DS for a bit this afternoon - for a lovely walk in Spring sunshine - so hopefully that gave her a bit of a window to look out of Grin

DS is meant to be practicing his trumpet too for upcoming audition in a week and a bit. I think they probably have both been revising/practicing every day as promised (to themselves as much as anyone) but I think not as much as they might have/ barely on some days

And DD is away for a few days residential trip on Saturday so hope she'll make the most of the time before that - also thinking of taking some Maths papers with her although I expect it will be busy once she's there. Still will be good for her to meet up with old friends.

EricNorthmanSucks · 31/03/2016 08:39

My two claim they are doing four hours revision per day. But I'm not sure how true that is or the quality of what's actually being done.

DD spent hours in the kitchen yesterday writing one bloody essay. And it's still not finished!

DS is working his way through The Walking Dead. Currently on episode 8 season 6 so how much work can have been done in between ?

JugglingFromHereToThere · 31/03/2016 09:18

You almost feel it might be easier/ more efficient to do it for them hey Eric?
Except that would mean long forgotten Maths and Biology that I never did in the first place, so may be not Confused
Possibility we might be buying a new trumpet for DS today, if it's arrived in shop. So that would be quite exciting - but involve quite a long round trip.
He does need a better one though as original beginners one not really reaching the higher notes.

EricNorthmanSucks · 31/03/2016 09:31

I suppose it's the age old adage that you can't put a wise head on young shoulders.

Our ability to do things efficiently has been honed by years of necessity!

I mean I am not the most efficient person and my job involves a lot of day dreaming/thinking.

But you have to crack on don't you? At some point you learn to find a balance and you learn the difference between useful space for thinking and procrastinating/avoidance.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 31/03/2016 10:11

Hmm, I know I can be the Queen of Procrastination ... but seems the line of succession is secure and I have some young contenders in the kingdom of SurelyTomorrowWillDo Smile

Perhaps we may get something done today?! I'll report back later ...

bigTillyMint · 31/03/2016 10:38

Well DD is now panicking about the amount of revision she has to do for Psychology (presumably as well as the other 3 subjects) and has gone off to the library. DS is at a school revision session for his forthcoming Science GCSE.

Do your DC's schools put on revision sessions in the holidays?
DD went to one at her Sixth Form on Tuesday and declared it useless. She found the sessions put on for GCSE at her old school (which DS is still at) really helpful. How can the new school have got it so wrongConfused

getoffthattabletnow · 31/03/2016 11:27

Dd1 is working on a milk farm and is there from 6-6.30 - 6pm the first day and 3 pm other days. She is doing a few hours of revision after a long hot shower.I am exhausted from getting up early and doing an hour long drive twice daily. But she is absolute loving it and seems to have found her niche.Apparently Cows love her!
Bristol,Glasgow open days and her Maths AS exam are all on three consecutive days in June.I guess we will have to prioritise. How many open days are people going to?

JugglingFromHereToThere · 31/03/2016 11:46

Thinking you might decide Glasgow is a long way to go getoff? - depending whereabouts you are in the country?

I think on the whole it's not necessary to go to every open day you might include in your choices - more enough to give you an idea and confidence about Uni life and before any interviews?
We did one last summer and are considering maybe three more over the summer term I think? Then there's the possibility of one or two more in the autumn?

I guess other times for visits might be for an interview, and I've also heard of applicant days for after an offer has been made?

bigTillyMint · 31/03/2016 11:51

Wow! That is impressive, getoff! Is she getting experience for Vet Science or does she just like cows?!

No Open Days planned for here. YetWink
